Yesterday I ran in the Dundee Parkrun rather than my usual Perth one. Blimey! It has a hill in it and, to be honest, I am yet to bond with hills... I had quite a lot of walking breaks on the way up it. Oh, and then there's another hill up to the finishing line. I had a wee walk on part of that too. Turns out I'm not the superstar I thought I was when I did a 10.6km run two days earlier (all flat).
So, it looks as though my next challenge is to start hill training, something I've committedly refused to consider doing yet. I think that wee reality check was just what I needed. My big head has shrunk.

Sometimes I can sometimes I can't. I have to do the hill at my local Parkrun twice.. and is the hardest in my area and then when it's muddy it doesn't help, but it's very gradually getting easier. But it's so tough and sometimes I say blow that for today, and do another Parkrun I know is all flat and run completely on tarmac, although It's good if you can do the hills as they make you stronger and give you more route options..😊
I'm no good at hills, either - I put this down to being an outdated diesel model of runner that doesn't have a turbo. And maybe just a little bit because I always go for flat routes when I run.
Encouraged by your comments i tackled a hilly route today (Deuchny Hill) and lived to tell the tale. 5.4km, 36:48 minutes, 144m elevation, two short walk breaks. Happy with that as a start. One day I'll run it all!
