Hooked on parkrun (you did warn me!)

So I am hooked on parkrun! With only two under my belt my local one was cancelled due to horse racing so knowing the next closest ones were muddy or had a notorious hill I ended up a little further afield and so glad I did. Such a friendly parkrun at Brueton Park. My first experience of running with c700 people and a start funnel with markers to show where to start depending on how fast you can run. It was a new experience watching the front setting off and having to wait to start running due to volume of people. All those good vibes helped me finally (post poorly chest pre Xmas) run a whole 5k without a little walk. I’ll be back here love it!

There are quite a few people on this website hooked on parkruns Sparky5000, if their parkrun is cancelled they have withdrawl symptoms 😂. They despartately look for a parkrun which has not been cancelled and drive at 70 mph to that one.

I am glad that you enjoyed your second 5K parkrun and will enjoy many more, I just hope that not too many are cancelled.

Well done. It’s very addictive. I am at 64 parkruns now and did 36 last year. I’m going to go for 40 this year. You meet lovely people at parkrun and make good friends too. Enjoy your running and best wishes for your own parkrun journey.

Wow, 700 people running, that's a busy parkrun! Well done, great way to celebrate feeling better. And yep, it's very addictive, your Saturday mornings are never going to be the same!

I think I know exactly the hill you are talking about Sparkey - wouldn't be Leamington would it? I wouldn't worry about it, most people seem to walk up it and just think of it as another challenge. It does get very busy though. Come to Stratford, it's nice and flat!

Really pleased to hear this, parkrun is a great way to get in a 5K run effortlessly because going to parkrun is such a hoot!

When you get some more parkruns under your belt you may want to look at running-challenges.co.uk for motivations and adding some excitement to your parkrun journey.
