First Parkrun of the year!

I haven't been able to get to parkrun for a while and it felt great to be back. My local one starts with a hill that seems to go on forever and that felt really tough today but once that first km was done, I really enjoyed it. My son came too and got to wear his new 10 parkruns t-shirt. Just waiting for the official Times as I forgot to switch mapmyrun off for a while at the finish. It was super busy today and I actually had to queue up to have my barcode scanned. A couple of other local parkruns were cancelled today so we had a few extra "tourists" today from Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. Happy running this weekend, everyone! ☺

Great, you did go. Glad you enjoyed it and your son should be so proud wearing his parkrun tshirt. . Enjoy the rest of your weekend 😊😊

We were both feeling a bit out of practice but so pleased we went today. It was incredibly busy with nearly 380 runners, that's roughly twice as many as usual!

Congratulations to you and your son on running your first parkrun of 2020, that 41.41 time is wrong as you say that you forgot to switch the app off, I am also having a short break from parkruns but not running, I will be back at parkruns in February.

My official time was 39:09 which I am happy with, my pb is 38:28 which I am determined to beat at some point this year! I haven't done much running recently so wasn't sure if I would manage a sub 40, especially as there's a muddy corner that you really have to slow down and pick your way through. Enjoy your next parkrun when you go back. Today was my 14th, wonder if I can get to 50 this year...

14th parkrun, very good, I have also ran 14 Parkruns, I intend to run my 15th on the 8th February, however, as I say I have not stopped running, I am very lucky on having a choice of several short and longer off road runs very nearby to where I live, just last week I discovered a old route where I walk had been resurfaced, now making it suitable for running as well.

Brilliant. Well done to you both for braving the weather. Good to be back at Parkrun I’m sure. I volunteered this morning. Enjoy your Saturday.

Thanks Damien, weather was OK here, grey but not actually raining and not much wind. Well done for volunteering today, were you pace setting again?

It's so nice that my son enjoys coming along. We don't run together, he is much faster than me so he has to wait for me at the finish line. 😂 My girls have started doing Junior Parkrun on Sunday mornings which is brilliant. I love parkrun!

Not sure where you are Debston? My niece does East Grinstead which sounds fairly close

My local one is at Bedgebury Pinetum in Kent which is not that far from East Grinstead, probably 45 minutes drive early on a Saturday morning with not much traffic. It's a lovely place to visit, especially in the summer.

A pinetum run sounds lovely. You wouldn’t want to drive 45 mins to parkrun in E Grinstead, people lose shoes in the mud there!

Hi. Yes. It was good, but very windy. After running up the hill I felt like I was being blown back down it.
