Oh deer its hampton court...

I wasn't even really due to run today.I have been taking two rest days now that my runs are longer..

But hubby Paul-runs-sometines has decided that he DOES enjoy running after all, and has started joining (hi-jacking😈) me on my runs.

Last time out (Saturday) we were doing Bridge 2 10k with Sammi wk2 R2 and I let Paul change our route...turned out quite hard and a long uphill bit at the end, but I did it.

Anyway, he's been looking on the internet and suggested that we run today (a bit soon for me) somewhere' a bit nicer, with a view' and we head off in the car for 40 mins to Bushy Park. We are going to do part of a 12.5k run in the park, up to Kingston bridge and back along the Thames towpath to Hampton Court, through the grounds then back to Bushy park and the car.

It is lovely there, loads of deer with antlers just roaming and chillin' nice paths which are flat.

I have Sammi playing and hope to be able to do run3, but not sure of route, terrain, how far we are going, will we get lost..

It was lovely running through the park, and along by ths river and so exciting to turn into Hampton Court grounds and run in front of the palace.

But my legs where tired so although we did Run15 walk 5 Run 15 walk 5 Run 5 walk for a bit (my fault I thought we had gone wrong and panicked) then Run10. Total 7.4k I can't cross it off as a Sammi run done. Just a lovely run/walk that we will definately do again...😊

I will mark this one up as a practise fun run and hopefully get back to plan in a couple of days..

I was hoping to be able to say week 2 completed.. but on the other hand its nice to have a running buddy again...

Does anybody on here run along the towpath from Kingston to Hampton Court?

Sounds lovely Bluebirdrunner there is nothing wrong with a fun run!! Or finishing week two (which by the sound of it you could include as one).

That is up to you though. Must be nice to have a bubby to run with. My OH can out with me once and turned his ankle, soft tissue damage 😢 his running career, stopped, just like that!

Weekend off!! You deserve it 😊

Thanks welshgirl, I was hoping to complete week 2 and be starting week 3 with you😐 but it didn't work out after all.

It is good to have a running buddy, Paul started c25k with me last year, but didn't really stick with Laura although he did graduate. He doesn't come on here though so no badge...

He was running a bit fast after that and not enjoying it so gave up.

Now he is letting me set the pace he's finding it much more confortable and is able to acheive more distance/time.

I will be watching to see how Wk 3 goes for you. I've had a peek and think is should be fine. 😊

There are a few of us on the Bridge now so we can all compare notes.

Good luck.x

Oh, and sorry to hear about your OH hurting his ankle. Has he been told not to run, or lost interest?

in reply toBluebirdrunner

He wants to start again but he is going to have to sit on the IC for awhile.

It's still swollen up and he is still on painkillers :(

I think Hampton Court is my favourite palace. There is something so whimsical about it. I can't help wishing William and Mary had not taken a shining to it and started bashing things down and rebuilding. It is an interesting hodge podge but I much prefer the Tudor parts and wish it had been left intact. The grounds are lovely. That sounds like a really nice run, I'd just treat it as a fun time out run and slide back into your programme with Sammi. Maybe just tell yourself you're following the programme but now and then you'll be doing something different with Paul. That run sounds more adventurous and fun to me than the Sammi programme. It is great to have someone to run with on days out. I either have a day out or a run but can't often combine the two.

Not what you're looking for?
