After completing a half marathon as a 'challenge' recently I've got hooked on races!! I did a 10k race on Sunday I'm already signing up for more. I never really thought I was competitive but running seems to changed me-has anyone else found this?

Races are too addictive!

Well I ran my first 10k yesterday and am already looking for my next races!! So, yep, it certainly seems addictive (reading on here too). It's a different type of competitiveness though, I think, because it's more about challenging yourself and seeing what you are capable of rather than a race against others, iykwim? Love it!🙂
Definitely with you on that Sandra - I'm really pleased to find that I'm not really bothered about how fast others are going, but love seeing an improvement in my own performance. My improved pulse rate and BP is what I find really valuable and confirms that it is worth the effort.

Yes I agree ! I did a lot last year, I couldn't stop myself Ha ha
I am being a bit more restrained this year due to low funds, well apart from the GMR on Sunday and the Manchester Half in October and the Salford 5 miler in November xxx

Most definitely addictive! And changed me into a competitive person too! Only competitive with myself! I hadn't even completed my HM on Sunday before I started thinking of which race I can fit in before my next HM in September and if three weeks before HM and Metric Marathon (is that MM???) is enough of a rest. As I recovered sitting drinking my mocha in Costa was a little annoyed I didn't have my phone to check for races! As a result I have decided to try the Mersey Tunnel 10km!
So yes it is addictive and makes us competitive even if only with ourselves! I blame Laura!
Happy running 👟

Yes 😊 I just think they're such fun. Charging about en mass like a bunch of mad things. 😊
You do the first one just to see if you can and from then on .....😀
Glad it's not just me 😂!
