Due to Covid19 the races I've trained for have been or will be cancelled. It all happened right after I run my first ever 10K (which I was so excited about). It was like a blow to my motivation. But I got it back! I guess, I needed to adjust, set new aims and goals and reconnect with my love of running. Today, I did wonderful 10K along the river, sun was shining, plenty of walkers and other runners.
And I felt free, strong and part of something bigger and helps me to deal with stress and anxiety. This is why I run and will continue to run. Luckily, running can be done safely even in the middle of pandemic.
Stay strong and healthy everybody!

Good post trawa, excellent motivation for us all, if we keep running, fit and healthy this bug will be beaten, we just can't let our heads dip and trainers get dusty 👍👍
Absolutely right. You certainly made a quick recovery and turn around from your disappointment. So good to remember that it’s not just the competition (even just with ourselves) but also the running itself which rewards us and keeps us going. 😄👍 Thanks for a good reminder.
Same for me. I’d entered a 10K night run at the end of April which will no doubt be cancelled. I am going to really miss parkrun too. So I have decided that over the next few weeks or months I am going to work on getting back up to 10K again. And I want to work on my fitness in general. My parkrun finish times have slowed down lately. So I’m going to work on increasing distance, sub 1 hour 10K and building up towards a sub 25 minute 5K. I’m working from home from now on and will be looking forward to these runs.
I’m going to work also on very sensible social distancing for myself and my family. I’m going to ignore all the social media fake news and disinformation. I’m not going to allow myself to get anxious, I’m going to stay positive and stay safe.
This is so sensible approach. We need our own goals but also to stay mentally and phisically healthy in these challenging times. I'm a nurse but currently don't work with patients but in education and training of nurses. I've been working from home since last week and when I think what may happen soon I'm getting anxious. Running keeps me grounded. Plus I'm completely off social media - only using this forum and guardian to keep me sane 🤗
Exactly the same for me. I’ve parked up social media. I’ll watch one news broadcast per day from a reputable source, and I’m going to look after my family. This forum is so positive and a lovely place to visit. I’ll be hanging out here, working from home and running. Stay safe and stay well. Happy running.
Great effort getting out for the joy of running in such a lovely setting rather than as training for an event. As long as we can get out and enjoy this safe free activity the better for our physical and mental health. Happy running 🤗
