Hello peeps! It’s been two weeks since my last confession.
I intended to run on several occasions, but instead of getting up and doing it opted for poor quality dozing in between hitting a snooze button every 9 minutes. My knee is a bit tweaky, ‘tis true, but slothfulness was the main barrier.
However! I purchased an Adidas badminton dress and shorts on the cheap the other day. I saw the set and spent some time googling ‘running in a dress’ and found that there is a precedent for it. So I grabbed it and this morning donned it for its maiden run, dreaming of freedom and a cool breeze tickling my thighs
God it was hot. It was 8am so past early and the sun was warmed up and doing its thing. I could have been naked as a newborn and wouldn’t have felt cool in the road and field sections. Add to that the fact I have completely lost the ability to pace myself at a sustainable speed (due to decreased fitness and lack of pacing practice)... I was going tooo fast and ground to a halt at 4km. It qualifies as one of the difficult runs.
Thankfully there was some respite in the wooded sections and I did start to feel a bit like a woodland nymph.
I don’t think I’m ready to wear a dress when running solo on the road, but for ParkRun and round the fields I think it’s going to become a favourite. Nothing flapping or gripping around the midriff, arse is covered and the breeze breezes where a breeze should. I felt free and fun. Plus it might make a pee break a bit easier?!

I ran this morning too.... at 5:45....... I used to absolutely refuse to set my alarm for a time beginning with 5 but needs must! It’s too hot to run any other time and I need to be ready to leave for work by 7:30 latest! What has this running thing done to me? I hardly recognise myself. Today I dressed for work in some new knee length Capri things, and a new blouse, both in a size 14 - and this is why I get up at 5 something!!! Most of my clothes were size 20 when I started C25K.
A dress sounds like a lovely idea, I must investigate the possibilities. Keep running x
That’s an incredible achievement. I know the difference just a few pounds can make in terms of feeling bleurgh and your clothes fitting well - to drop 3 dress sizes must feel amazing.
I really enjoyed the dress. It was fun, or it was when I wasn’t battling the heat and my out of practice body. A 5.45am run would have been preferable - I just can’t seem to haul myself from my bed at that hour at the moment!
