Absence of Chemotherapy

Hi, my mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a surgery in December 2015, she was advised 6 cycles of chemotherapy but after just one chemo she fell severely ill due to some infection in the chemoport so doctors cancelled her further treatment and started with radiotherapy after she recovered. Now she is undergoing herceptin treatment.

My concern here is due to the lack of chemotherapy are there any chances of recurrence or existence of the cancer cells still in her body.

Everything depends on the stage and so many other factors. The fact that she needed chemotherapy and the fact that she didnt receive it (except one dose), does make it obvious that there might be a little higher chance of relapse. But don't let that bother you. Just regularly follow up with your Oncologist as advised.
