He's still in cicu but in the bay opposite where he was He's off ventilator but still got tracheotomy in as they want him on oxygen machine 24 hours before they take it out. He did some physio while I was there, standing and walking on the spot.
I took him a couple of pens and he can hold it and write now, so that's better for communication as well.
His surgeon told him last night when he's off cicu he may well be transferring back to chesterfield royal. I asked what he thought about that and he's okay either way. Not sure if he'll have to be walking or not, but probably not for a couple of weeks anyway. Be easier for me, and not such early starts, we'll see.
Fingers crossed they take the tracheotomy out tomorrow while I'm not there and they can sort any problems
Nice to hear good news again It would be good if they could move him closer to home but I know you just want the best for him. im sure the tacheometry out will make a real difference xx
He has done so well and you to as I know what strain this has put on you to but I am so glad that soon that pressure will be lifted and if he keeps going as he is he will soon be home with you
another day, another step in the right direction. Similar to Dad who spent 3 1/2 weeks in Ccu at Papworth before being transferred to our local hospital for 7 weeks before home.
It was so much easier on travelling time and the purse here but a noticeable drop in level of care. Ensure that you have a contact at your current hospital before he leaves. Ask the question who to contact if you need advice. It gave us some leverage at times.
Well done! You still sound upbeat but remember the emotional strain has been harder for you although he’s had the physical battle.
Thanks for the update. That's great news again on all counts. Moving hospital's is a huge step so they must be really confident in his recovery. Relieved that it will cut down on your travelling time too. Everyday now gets him closer to coming home to you 🥰 xx
That's good to hear, but I don't think he's moving until he's off cicu. He'll need more physio as he's only standing atm, and needs to walk and climb stairs, which he isn't doing yet. xx
Thank you Castleview, it is good of you to update everyone. I hope he continues to improve. And it will be good for you if he comes nearer to home, you seem to be looking after yourself, which is equally important 😊
Great to hear your update on your hubby's improvements 😊 Hope you are taking care of yourself too, it's so tiring for you, let's hope he's moved closer to you soon.
Well it all sounds like it's going in the right direction now for him getting better slowly by the day and if he is moving closer to home that's even better for you and he will hopefully soon be home again. Take care of yourself too. Brian
I have been following your updates and have to say it’s wonderful to read how far your hubby has come and about his progress.
I marvel at both of your resilience to the huge hurdles you’ve been through both individually and as a couple.
My husband is due for open heart surgery and seems it will be next week with a planned icu stay of 2-3 days and 10-14days in hospital so been following your posts and taken much comfort from them.
Wishing your husband continued progress and that his trachy is removed this week and thank you for all your progress reports xx
Hopefully it will go much more straightforwardly for your husband. I had my OHS 5 weeks ago, one day in ICU and 5 days on the ward before discharge. Lots of little things I didn’t acknowledge before surgery but certainly not the battles Mr Castleview has faced in the same time period. Take care x
That's great progress, I always look forward to your updates, we're all with you 💖I'm pleased also that you're having a rest day tomorrow. You're very important and need to take care too.
