Hubby is doing okay. Ventilator numbers still down, should be off it by about Wednesday. They have to lower it by 1 every day. He is breathing on his own now, only got it to kick in if he stops. Fingers crossed by next weekend he can get the tracheotomy out.Physio worked him hard today and she says once he's off all machines and tubes, he'll have go down to PCU and they'll work with him there. Once tracheotomy is out and he can swallow he'll be able to eat and drink and get his voice back. He's been on diruetics as his hands and feet were so swollen. I brought his wedding ring home. I'm taking it back in now the swelling is gone. He put his thumbs up and nodded his head so much I thought it would come off, lol

Another update
Hello
So many of us looking out for your updates and what a fantastic update this is
He is now doing so well I have to smile when I read his doing
Sounds like all the staff etc are doing a fantastic job with your Husband working so hard with them to it will not be long till he is enjoying a nice cup of tea
I am so glad he has also got to a stage where you can take him his wedding ring I can imagine how much that will mean to him to have it back on where it belongs
From the start of your posts and how poorly he was to where he is now is an inspiration and will give hope to others if they ever find themselves in this position so thank you again for sharing with us and of course I hope you are looking after you to
I look forward to your next update x
thank you for updating us again I also look for your updates everyday and am so pleased that it is good news again. It must of been so hard for you but will all be worth him when you have him back home xx
I'm hoping he's home by Easter at the end of March, especially as there won't be buses for a couple of days 😞
Im sure once he gets all the tubes away he will surprise you with how quickly he progresses he sounds like a fighter
How will he get home? By ambulance? He will want as easy a trip as possible.
Think it will be at least another 5 weeks, he can't walk yet, and he'll need to be off ventilator before that can happen. Guessing we'll pay for a taxi, unless they do allow patient transport.
I would hope they allow patient transport!
I can just imagine him on the bus complete with ventilator!
If there is a "friends' of the hospital they may be able to arrange transport, or it is not unknown to be taken home by Ambulance. Glad he is improving and congratulations on your silver anniversary. Is he aware of the date?
Yes he knows. It'll be at least a month after ventilator removal before he comes home x
That's all really positive news. I'm so pleased for you and cant wait for the message that says he's back home 😊Joanne
X
This is absolutely wonderful news,so pleased for you and hubby.Elation!

Yes, I had the day off. Changed bedding, polished and hoovered, then cleaned bathroom. Then feet up with a book. Made 3 phone calls though to check how he was x
I thought it was a day off for you!!
😜😂😂 well I washed the bedding x
Every time I read you messages I think back to your original ones - then I think of how much you’ve both been through and thank my lucky stars my current family members are all ok. It’s usually me who’s ill but I couldn’t cope on the other side (if my husband were to go through what yours has & to have been in your position - both of you are so brave 🤗
So pleased for you all.
What a super way your hubby chose to say ‘I love you’! Nowt wrong with his brain and he obviously realises how much you love him. Your updates are wonderful to read and I’m beginning to relax the finger crossing - just not uncrossing them til I read he’s talking, eating, drinking and laughing.
I look forward to your updates . Thank you for sharing your journey with us all . So glad the way things are progressing for you both . It’s so lovely to hear x
That’s good to hear x
fabulous news I am so pleased to read this. it always amazes me how dedicated the staff in the ICU are they are special humans. I hope it is not too long now until he is homex
I love hearing your regular updates of how your husband is doing. He's making such amazing progress. Incredible how the human body can heal itself. Thanks for keeping us all posted. We are all wishing him well and look forward to hearing when he's able to eat and drink and utter his first words to you. All the best 🤗
Onwards you both go.Happier times ahead x
That's great news Castleview, he's doing so well now. I'm glad you managed a day off & chill out for a while. You must be exhausted physically & mentally but it'll be worth it when he's back home with you. Sending love & hugs to you both ❤️ 🤗
Every morning I look for your message without fail. I am so relieved to hear he doing much better now and is receiving such good care. Take care of yourself also your a true inspiration to so many.
It's lovely to read your latest post. Thrilled to hear of your hubby's ongoing recovery. Your house is cleaner than mine, and after ALL you've been through!! Bless both your valiant hearts, and the medics who are so Incredible. I hope you're treating yourself to some nice spring flowers if you see any in passing? Hyacinths? Daffodils? Sending love and ongoing best wishes. You've given many of us, in the waiting room, much courage and inspiration, as have other kindly, supportive souls who've encouraged you. Thank you to all of you. I have my pre-op apt on 27th, so feeling grateful, whilst trying to keep the unknown at bay and just be brave and get on with it.
Wishing you both a Blessed Silver Anniversary on 27th. Keep the champagne on ice, it'll be all the more special to enjoy after your epic journeys! Sending love ❤️ ❤️
I'm going to try and get some daffodils and sunflowers on Tuesday on my way home, as they're in my silk wedding bouquet.Good luck with your pre op appointment x
How beautiful! Daffodils and sunflowers! I hope you get to have a very special visit on Tuesday. I'm sure the staff will be delighted to share in it with you, it'll be special for them too to have an event like that! Thanks so much for your good wishes. X

This is a great update, his nickname should be Noddy lol. I hope you are also being taken care off
Hugs
😂😂 I'm fine, can't wait for him to be able to walk again, then he'll be near to coming home x
So much improvement, well done hubby. 😊
Brilliant to read of Mr Castleview’s progress. It is fabulous that he is getting such good care in the hospital , that together with his positive mindset and your huge support,, it is all in combination working to get him back on his feet.
He will have a lot to say when he gets his voice back.
😂 That’s good to hear, all going in the right direction. 👍x
Great to hear this news ❤️🙏
Excellent progress - on ward and upward. I hope the Speech Therapist (SALT) is going to get him to say Happy Anniversary for the special day! I really look forward to your updates - I hope you will tell him how many virtual friends you both have now!
He may be able to mouth it, but he can't speak with the tracheotomy. I'll be showing him all the posts and replies when he's stronger x
All positive steps forward. Thanks for updating. Xxx
Onwards and upwards! So nice to read a more relaxed tone in your posts!
Lovely to read your update, Castleview. Taking hubby's wedding ring home must have been heartbreaking--there were so many unknowns at the time. And now, such wonderful progress!
I hope hubby is free of the tracheotomy soon; you'll never shut the lad up once he starts talking again. Which will be brilliant.
Bless you both 🙏💐☺️
Excellent news, really happy to hear this! It’s proof that doggedness and determination can often achieve miracles. You are both quite inspirational, keep going! 😘
I look out for your post every day and I’m so pleased things are heading in the right direction now. When he’s ready to come home I suggest if you can afford it, you hire a taxi. The problem with hospital ambulance transport is that it often doesn’t pick up until late and then may have to go all round the houses dropping people off. This happened with my sisters husband who had been in ICU for several months. He got home at 11pm! The other possibility is to enquire if your area has a voluntary car service that can help. Ask at your GP or the CAB.
We'll get a taxi when the time comes x
It's always a good start to a day to come on here and read that your Hubby is progressing all the time, and at his own pace
oh, I am so happy for you !!not be long now till he’s all better and thinking about coming home. Keep strong, you have been so very brave and I send you a big hug and all my best wishes to you both Xx
Brilliant news. Thank you so much for the updates. Look after yourself.
Being on a ventilator for so long cannot be easy..for him and your family..but a light coming up now is great news...cannot wait till Wedesday...thankfully he seems to be doing much better now..hope all will be fine very soon...all the best wishes.
Good to hear things are still improving Keep us all updated
Brilliant news. He'll be running around in no time and because he's healed quite a bit over the past few weeks, he'll be more comfortable at home.
You're an inspiration to all partners out there. People going through similar trauma will be heartened by the way you've managed to cope with all of this. Usually we'd be telling you to buy a V shaped pillow to prop him up in bed at home (if hubby had had none of these complications and was home within a week after the op).
Give hubby a hug (gentle) from us and tell him he's a marvel and has a lovely wife!
All the very best to you all. Jan xxxxx
Aw thank you 😊
❤️💙💚 xxxxx
A beautiful post, the nod and thumbs up bit at the end of the post put the biggest smile on my face and such good news to see the improvement he has made from when you first posted. Sorry my reply is a little late, it's so heartwarming about the wedding ring 💕. I feel like I almost actually know the pair of you. Thank you for giving us hope Castleview and can't wait to hear how your anniversary goes, I know it's going to be one of the most special days of both your lives. All the to your husband and he has my utmost admiration for the fight he had and is winning I'm happy to say. You are indeed a very special and inspirational couple. Looking forward to your next update 💕
Aw, you've made me cry.❤️
Aw I'm sorry, I actually wanted to make smile. Please look after you too, you are a special lady 💕
Happy tears 🤗 xxDay off tomorrow, buses are rubbish on Sundays. All I'm going to do is cook some dinner and wash up, watch rubbish on tv and maybe read a book xx
Sounds good to me, try to rest and I look forward to your next update on hubby 💕xx
Another good update. It'll be great once the tracheotomy is out. That must feel uncomfortable for him and frustrating not being able to speak or eat. But tell him to control that head nodding he has enough to contend with without his head falling off too. 😉
😜😂😂
👍👍👍🙂
Hi just seen your update not been on for a few days how good is that so pleased for you and hubby if I lived close to I would come and take you home!! I am on my last week of work retiring on Friday.x
Enjoy your retirement 😉❤️x
I do love to see your updates, tell your hubby I wish him a speedy recovery x
