They took him off sedation, he was shaking after 20 minutes, not all the time. Dr says not fitting so not epilepsy, so no eeg at this stage. After another 30 mins he stopped shaking. Then the so and so went to sleep, lol. They've sedated him again now, but only on half amount so will be easier tomorrow. Not decided on MRI yet.
Yes, like to think he knew I was there. He squeezed my hand a few times but think that was just reflex, as although he opened his eyes when asked, he didn't squeeze hands or wiggle toes when asked. If the know about MRI tomorrow nurse will call me tonight, otherwise she said ring about 10 tomorrow morning as they should know then and also an approx time. She said it's not worth going all that way to sit in the waiting room. Everything else seems okay, sats etc. They've sent some swabs off as he may have an infection, but that will take a couple of days as they have to see if anything grows in the Petri dish. It was nice to see him open his eyes, but they are bloodshot and no reaction when they shine a light. Hopefully being on a lighter sedation will help next time. I played him doctor who theme tune and his BP dropped!!
FORGOT to say they've removed his drains as well ๐
What a positive update. You must be so relieved to hear he was awake for a little bit. Letโs hope the next time they take him off sedation he is able to stay awake for a little longer and hopefully, be a bit more responsive to your cues.
Itโs also good that theyโve ruled out seizures and that his stats or observations are ok. I hope the MRI comes back well if they decide to go ahead with it.
Thank you so much for the update I've been checking all day including at my hospital appointment I'm glad it is a much more positive update and hopefully you are feeling more positive as well. Dr who is amazing so am not surprised it had a affect
Well what great news I know these are small steps but with each one he will soon be back on that ward and so many positive things starting to happen now I am so pleased when I saw and read your post
Removing his drains as well this is all steps in the right direction
I wonder when his BP went down did it go to low with the Doctor Who theme tune
I am so glad you got to hold his hand and he will have known you were there
Hie eyes maybe will be dry and why they are red as he has been asleep a long time they will come good when he is awake all the time again which now I am hoping will not be to long
Half the amount of sedation as well now you must be feeling so much better I hope that slowly things are getting better
I am so pleased to see your update I think about you both and I look forward to hoping you will update us again when you have news as so many of us on here are rooting for you both to be home together soon
Thank you for taking the time to come on and tell us how he is doing x
Thatโs great news . If you think about what his body has been through, itโs natures way for the body to shut down for a bit for a well needed rest . Keep us posted with updates x
Ah that is good to hear. All sounds promising, I love the Dr. Who theme tune too :-)Sounds like a gradual process but there is improvement already with removal of the drains and no fitting this time. I know its so hard for you to be going through too, but we're all rooting for the pair of you ๐ค๐.
Thanks for taking the time to update us all too. All the best for tomorrow ๐ค
This sounds really positive, Castleview. It seems that hubby is receiving the best of care under difficult circumstances. One step at a time, one hand squeeze at a time๐ค
How far do you have to travel? We just presume someone is in a local hospital a lot of the time. I hope the Dr Who theme on his BP was a good sign - unless heโs not a fan then it may have been a reaction of โwhy you playing that I hate itโ. Hope you get some good news and see improvements soon xx๐ค
Only 30 miles as the crow flies, but buses are a nightmare and would be a round trip of over 6 hours, so I taxi both ways which is a round trip of 2.5 hours. He loves Doctor who ๐ x
Hi - glad you got some positive news today. Baby steps. Much respect for keeping us all updated when you are probably exhausted. Remember to look after yourself as well.
Ah that's positive news, I'm so glad he's heading in the right direction. Hope he continues to make daily progress & we're all behind you. I'm glad you're feeling more relaxed too, it's must be really hard on you & your family. Hoping for more good news today. Take care x
Thanks for updating us , Iโm sure Iโm not alone in saying that you have been in my thoughts . Itโs baby steps in the right direction. Sending positive thoughts.
Oh bless your hearts. I was thinking of you all yesterday, and feeling the compassionate wishes of everyone in this group, for your family. Little step by little step. This is positive news and it's great to hear it. Thank you for sharing the update. Willing you all onwards and upwards and sending strength, hugs and love. Xx
thanks for the update, that all sounds quite positive, hope next time he comes off you will see a vast improvement because heโs now on half sedation hopefully he will come round better when woken up,
You guys are in my thoughts make sure you look after yourself too.
That's good news, Castleview and scanning down all of these responses your family is certainly surrounded with love xx Every moment gets him further on the road to recovery x
Thank you for sharing your update on such a personal situation. You sound incredibly strong but inside I'm sure your in bits. Sending all my best wishes for a good outcome for yourhusband. Slow and steady steps. Be sure to look after yourself too. Thinking of you, best wishes...
Positive update, thank you. Patients do not always respond to commands, but hear what you say! This was brought home to me as a student way back in the late 1960's when a fellow student and I had been treating an unconscious patient, and discussing where we were going on the Saturday night. When we saw the patient the next week, he was awake, and asked us if we'd had a nice time - he heard us and recognised our voices!!! This was a very good lesson I never forgot!
That sounds more positive, definitely moving in the right direction. Thinking of you and everything crossed for today. Hopefully sleeping beauty will awaken fully Xx
Each small achievement is a victory...his body has gone through a lot...and is healing at it's own pace...but you must believe he will be well..and keep that picture in front of you...continuing prayers.
Thanks for that quick reply, it was just Castleview is an address in Bolsover. I was not trying to find out where you live, their are several castles in Derbyshire and elsewhere. I hope that on your next visit to see hubby he is making progress, perhaps take him a photo of a Darleck to see if he smiles. Take care,
That's such a positive response Castleview. Hubby will feel so much more comfortable with those drains removed.
I think we've all been looking for an update from you. It might be a good idea to keep a little note of day to day improvements as your lovely hubby might want to know what's been going on while he's been asleep. You'll be able to see all the positive steps he's made since the bypass.
We're all thinking of you and hubby and you family of course. Make time for yourself as it really takes it out of us partners/hubbies/wives.
Sounds like progress for sure, thank you so much for updating us as I do await your updates eagerly & I do so feel for you. Praying he'll recover fully. You must be so shattered, take care of yourself & I hope you are getting support from friends & family too ๐๐
