Hello I just wrote this in response to a question on another thread thought it may be useful on here !! What changes did you make after a heart Attack in 1982 ??
Well I stopped Smoking, Lost a few pounds but also gained a few £s with not smoking !!
I think to some extent it was the positive attitude to work. I had a very good job and though I was not allowed to work where I may have needed a helicopter to get me off, I did continue a career in a different direction.
I knew I had lost any fear when I started to take on jobs in remote locations. I worked in Lebanon during the troubles with Hezbollah, then took a job in Yemen out in the desert bordering Saudi a long way from medical help should it be needed !!! Then to China for almost a year, Singapore was a job starting to be back to normality, Finally I worked in Mississippi for almost 3 years before retiring.
From 1982 to 2015 I had nothing not even an Aspirin, it was only when seeing a young female doctor in 2015 she mentioned when did you last have an ECG I said a while ago OK lets do one. When she had it she just said doesn't look quite right I will fax it to Cardiology. That's when the roller coaster started it was Echo, Bruce Protocol, Angiogram and Bypass surgery.
Later in 2018 I had a couple of stents in my bypassed LAD and Heart Failure was Severe now it is Moderate so that's getting Better, and do you know what I don't tend to let any of this S**t get me down.
I know I am lucky with not suffering from anxiety I do work on the Basis if I have a Heart Attack I will be taken to Hospital fixed up and sent on my way. The other stuff will be sorted out in clinic and with medication.
So try to stay positive I really do think it is the best medicine you can have
