Feeling Positive, just in time for Christmas

Soooo……August at an M6 rest area I blackout, 2 x trauma nurses find me (they were going on holiday) as well as another nurse, 6 hits with the defibrillator , anyway massive heart attack, wake up in ambulance, quick check at hospital straight down for stent.

5 days later fractured ribs and stent discharged from Hospital.

So I left with an EF of 35% now sitting at 52%, echo apparently taken 3 months after the event was very very good, 48hr tape very good, ecg very good, needless to say Cardiologist was extremely happy as well as myself.

Reading posts and responding on here has all helped, fitter now than I have been for years and 3 stone lighter. I have genuinely been lucky all through this.

There are still I will call them minor issues as they won’t kill me.

Stay positive “talking helps”

nice that you have come back to share your good news. Best wishes.

Dear Scroll,

Thank you for your positive post , I cannot tell you how important it is to hear of peoples stories and the continuing outcome.

Good luck with the rest of your recovery and keep away from M6 services, just the thought of them makes my pacemaker twitch !

Great news

Keep taking care

I have found in what has been a journey that rather than Doctor Google, read on here, people with similar conditions problems, it highlights that you are not alone and many people go through all sorts of problems,.

I’m a 57 year old burly male that now finds themself moved to tears more frequently, I accept the fact gladly as I have the ability to be able to do this, not an epiphany or anything like that.

My joke to my family is since heart failure I have walked under a little black cloud, I needed it to help me achieve a positive outcome, pill regime, exercise, proper diet, I still need my little cloud as it keeps straight as I don’t want to return to where I was.

Depressing thoughts are there, not as frequent but I have acknowledged they will occur, this has pleased rehab, as they would of been concerned if I didn’t acknowledge that these dark thoughts will be present for a while.

While I am on the subject, I have to say my Rehab team from the East Coast Community Health have been outstanding, my heart failure nurse above and beyond I feel, his dedication is unreal.

On about 20 pills a day lol, from the 4 pillars of heart failure medicine, to the support acts, broken up to 6 regimes a day for ultimate effectiveness.

6 timer alarms on my Fitbit to remind me :)

It is what is now, so happy to take :)

What were the chances? Nurses and a defib machine, all popping up together, and at the exact moment, and in the exact place, where you most needed them?

I wake up every day feeling both very lucky and very grateful. I can't imagine how overwhelming your feelings of luck and gratitude must be!

Thanks for posting.

normally I go m62 to the A1, no words of lie, sat nav changed me 3 times to put me back on the M6. Stopped at 1 place went for some `Rennies, got back in drove 12 miles to the next to freshen up, an that was all she wrote, yes an amazing set of circumstances, a friend pointed out an article later in a local paper, two of the nurses were given an award.

I am Coeliac, thought I had a bit of reflux, coeliac attacks can and are mistaken for heart attacks, would appear the opposite is true, hence me going to get tennis to suck.

thank you, my reason to share is I have been a regular on here, I panic, I get anxious, I have developed coping mechanisms to “calm” me down, reading on here at times has been as good as talking to some one, for me anyway.

yeah my cardiac nurse said, I’m not religious but with you you can’t help but feel the fickle finger of fate step in, believe 1 nurse was A&E the other head of a trauma unit, as my rehab say, their actions because of the way they are trained helped create a better outcome

I too Scroll a had a very similar experience in September this year. Although not new to the world of heart disease. I’d already had by pass surgery some years previously. But had made a good and sustained recovery and with the help of a few daily drugs and the odd side effect🤣🤣 was enjoying being in the world of keeping my attacked heart healthy. When walking my dog on the cliffs of a local East Coastal beach one Saturday morning 3 months ago I completely out of the blue suffered Cardiac Arrest and total heart block. Like your angels who had kept you on the M6. My angels had ensured I had a rare walking companion that day. Where your angels supplied 3 passing holidaying nurses, mine arranged a local mountain biker, a trainee doctor with a Fitbit watch and miracle of miracles a doctor visiting friends, who had been persuaded to brave the windy cliffs for a family walk and be at the exact spot, at the exact time my friend was shouting for help and kept me alive with CPR until an ambulance arrived. With the help of three little words I might add 🤘7 days later I was back home walking my dog again, albeit a little slower than before, but with a determination to build on it. Carrying some extra internal metal and my very own defib implanted inside me and few more pills. I never knew about the wonderful people on this site until then. But have so enjoyed trying to help others less fortunate in spirit than myself to see there is still a wonderful life to be had. You just need to accept a few adjustments along the way. Not fight or bemoan them but embrace them and celebrate the knowledge learnt over the years by the professionals to give you this gift. As so many of my ancestors lost their precious lives to young, to poor hearts. To read good outcome stories can make such a difference to someone struggling with those early dark days of new diagnosis. Good luck Scroll I hope you continue to improve and enjoy life whatever it throws at you👏👏

Hi Scroll,

Wow, what a briliant post. Many thanks for sharing. You are obviously being watched over by a higher authority, whichever way you want to take that. I experienced similar with being blue-lighted to a local cardiac unit where I had stents inserted, all within 90 minutes of me calling 999. The NHS can function exceptionally well in emergency situations. 😀

I'm really pleased to see that you are looking at all the positive things that have come out of your experience. Well done on achieving all the major improvements to your health.

With my very best wishes for the future,

Gerald

You really have a guardian angel watching over you to have the nurses and a defibrillator all there. So glad you're doing so well.
