I had my colonoscopy yesterday. I have been dreading it for such a long time, but a friend who survived colon cancer urged me to have it. It was not half as bad as I imagined. I went home quite happy to have done the colonoscopy - the doctor saw 2 polyps and snipped them off for biopsy.
But this morning was a scary story. I found blood in my stool - panic time because I have a risk of bleeding due to aspirine. Note that despite my due diligence before the colonoscopy, I was advised not to stop taking aspirine on account of the colonoscopy.
In the end, it looks like I will be ok. The gastro expert said she ‘clipped’ the polypectomy site to stop the bleeding.
Thankful as I am, it still begs the question- why not clip it right away, knowing that I have a risk of bleeding?

Give it a bit of time. My husband is a colon cancer survivor and also has significant risks of recurring. He’s had reoccurring polyps that have been removed. Unless you have significant blood in stools it’s probably to be expected. If after a day or so you’re still experiencing then you should probably be more worried. That said if are concerned, call your doctor I’m sure they would not at all hearing from you.
