anyone know anything about "co q10"
Hi Johnpa I haven't heard of coq10 buit I googled it and there are mixed 'comments' on it
Just as a matter of interest do you suffer from dizziness on a regular basis I DO and I
would be interested in hearing from other 'friends' with Ataxia to hear if they have any
specific help or advise on the problem
Good luck Tedjohnson
Hi Johnpa
I take q10 but don't think it has made much difference to my ataxia.I seem to be well otherwise. Perhaps it is a means of keeping well.
Ted,
The room spins round until my eyes adjust.I think that is why I fall over if I move my head too quickly. Its a matter of adjusting and remembering to slow down-not an easy thing.
Hi, Coq 10 is suppossed to help ataxia I have tried it but it didnt seem to make much difference to me + as it is fairly expensive I gave up, I would suggest try it & see for yourself they can be bought at any decent health store
Co Q-10 is a natural antioxidant.
* Antioxidants help to control the free radicals that cause Ataxia to progress.
* Antioxidants also support the cells Mitochondria in producing energy.
There is an "analogue" (artificially modified super-strength version) of Co Q-10, called Idebenone, which is prescribed by some leading Ataxia professors.
* The professors warned against purchasing Idebenone online at the national conference.
You may wish to speak to your neurologist about sourcing Idebenone, as research suggests that standard Co Q-10 is not a strong enough antioxidant to have the desired effects.
