Apologies in advance to those squeamish...
I’m doing my homework in advance of an appointment at the Bowel and Bladder clinic where I was (reluctantly) referred for urinary incontinence. I’ve suffered with stress incontinence for some time despite being regular with pelvic floor exercises since pregnancy, this is the reason the physio thought its time to do something about it. Thing is, my neurologist gave the impression that urge incontinence (the sudden urge to pee, and not always making it) is related to ataxia - and can be treated with pharmacological agents - but that stress incontince is not. I suspect I experience a combination of both, but I also suspect that stress incontince CAN be related to ataxia, because my (pretty strong) pelvic floor muscles don’t react quickly enough to do what they need to, in the same way my leg muscles don’t always causing a stumble. I’ve looked at the stuff published by ataxia UK on bladder problems (largely technical, symptomatic treatments) but nothing on this specific question. Any thoughts?
