well today is the day, after having my assessment in April last year (2018), and had the mandatory appeal, with the same result zero points, and was slightly annoyed, to say the least, at the way I was treated by the so called health pro (her head was continually face down at her PC). I am taking things to a court.
Nervous? No, I just hope I can get them to finally understand what it is to have this condition, and am "fired up", after the PIP assessment, last week (where the person had to Google the word Ataxia, just to see what it was, and how it can affect people).
The people who know me, KNOW that I am a fairly laid back person... BUT, having seen what other people have had to put up with, and the way the DWP seem to be putting themselves above the GP's and other proper health Professionals, makes me so so angry, and god help anyone who gets on the wrong side of my partner... lets say, I have not seen her angry, as yet, but if ANYONE says the wrong thing about me, whether its a member of the tribunal team or the DWP, IF they turn up, I have a feeling I may have to visit her in prison (Joking)

I was turned down last week for the renewal of my PIPS. They said that because I can drive a car I don’t have any problems and I don’t need PIPs.
They also decided that I can walk more than 50 meters but no more than 200 meters most off the time even though I told them that walking between 10 and 30 meters is a problem and I have to set down for up to 1/2 hour to recover.
I been off work since before Christmas waiting to go though medical retirement because I cannot move, walk about the council building that I do my job in.
The person doing my appeal told me that the DWP have been failing lots more people than usual.
I had a reasonable time, and what made it interesting, the medical chap ( who was a GP, and asked the questions) knew what Ataxia was. But like all things, where they say at the end,"is there anything else to add", the mind just goes blank, for half an hour, until you are mulling things over, in a cafe, with your partner.
The judge said I would hear after the weekend, with it being 2 bank holidays
all these difficulties are created because one has it really hard, the other easier, e.g. can still drive...this spectrum makes it the hardest for any assessment...and it is also, how the person copes with it...What for one is a straightforward difficulty inconvenience, for other individual is insurmountable...
I have seen a few here who have appealed. Good luck with the court case. Thank goodness I’m of the age where they paid out Attendance Allowance without question and only asked about the illness not a single personal or financial question. It is not means tested in any way and put to good use as it pays for the cleaner with some money left.
my father (who mpassed at Christmas) was in receipt of PIP and something else, and had been getting it since 1985. He said once you reach a certain age, they tend to leave you alone
I was very shy, in my 20s, in my 40s I am a dragon, in other words, try messing with me and you know about it...Good luck! fingers xed, mainly don't get angry (stay clear thinking), very energy sapping...I like a fighting spirit, you get there eventually, just DON'T TAKE THINGS LYING DOWN....
