Received my appointment today for a face to face for 8.30am I'd have to get up @5.30 to get ready to leave @ 7am to get in to Bristol in rush hour, changed that for a more reasonable .time angry they gave me that time in the first place.
Just wondering anybody on here been to an assessment? What questions they ask etc.
Many Thanks

They ask about what the questions on the form..and get you to do a physical assessment... touch your toes etc if you are not in a chair. A load of codswallop if you ask me...my son was turned down last year but we found out that 95 % Do and since then everyone we have spoken to say..when you go for the appeal.. So don't be discouraged if you get turned down...appeal! Good luck xx
Like other posts on here say, ask the relevant body for a home assessment if you find it difficult to travel. Please be assured that over 90% of claimants get turned down, first, second and even third time, but it is well worth pursuing and you will get there in the end with a lot of patience and persistence. My friend has just been awarded the PIP at his third claim and with a very strong back up letter from his GP, so hang in there and stay positive.
The most important thing about the actual assessment interview is to describe how you are on bad days, not on your best days! The other problem is that many of the assessors have never heard of ataxia and don't necessarily believe it's a 'real' condition. You can direct them to our website or NHS Choices nhs.uk/conditions/Ataxia/Pa... (we wrote the text for this). If you have any problems or questions please phone the Helpline. - They can also provide you with a letter talking about ataxia and its effects. Good luck. Sue
