Exhausted but happy.

I spent seven hours at the lung transplant clinic at Harefield yesterday. I was weighed and measured many times, sometimes with boots (dockers!) on sometimes off, ECG, echocardiogram, chest xray, blood tests, blood pressure test, lung function test, urine test, and finally mrsa test! Everone was so kind and after last time we had learnt to take water, flasks of tea, snacks, books and kindles. It was worth it though because consultant is happy for me to bimble along as I am and go through it all again in six months, unless things change. I agreed cuz to have to consider going on the 'live' list is a momentous decision, as some of our members know. The Dr will be writing to my gp surgery though, their care is terrible. She will remind them that a rescue pack of steroids and antibiotics is a must as delays in treatment can cause further lung damage. I also learnt I can take ibuprofen which I thought I couldn't take because of my lungs. That was good to know as I have bursitis in my hip and possible nerve damage and it's very painful. I'm now going to help my husband sort dinners for next week then steal a cheeky nap. πŸ˜‚

Thankyou. We learnt to take snacks etc after our last visit. It is a long day, especially including the drive but they are very thorough. Take care.

Very, very good news Karen. The longer you can rely on your own lungs the better! So pleased your hospital is so caring. Much love to you. xx ❀️

Thankyou. And so true. This hospital is a good hour and half drive away but we don't mind as their care is excellent. I hope you are well

It sounds as if you are getting the best possible care, which is good to know. An excellent idea to take books and snacks.πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

We learnt the hard way at my first visit last July. We should have taken more snacks though!πŸ˜‚ There is a hospital canteen but we just know if we popped over there my name would be called. Take care.
