I have psoriatic arthritis but have been pain free for a while now. But at the moment in the evenings we have long standing prayers lasting 45 minutes or so. But the end my legs are aching so much. But I don’t know if it’s the arthritis because I’ve almost forgotten what that pain feels like!!
My arthritis gets better and sometimes goes away however if I stand still, one or both start aching usually when I lift my leg back on itself. The pain is like a heavy weight pushing my legs down. I started to wear a arthritis band on my leg and found this to help.
Hi Mrstarload - I recall being in chuch a few years ago and standing for hymns. I had to sit down feeling like a sore thumb, but the pain at the top of one femur was bad. As embarrassed as I was I had to sit down. Another time was at a clothes sale, same church, and sitting for well over an hour. When I got up I couldnt straighten up, so much stiffness and pain, I was walking bent over.
These days I'm not so active and can move as and when I want so its more manageable. Still suffer with back aches and pain in my lower back where the bottom of my spine is damaged. The arthritis, for me, never goes away. Its in my back, feet, knees, hands and wrists. I'm told its "wear and tear". I wish I'd known I might have been kinder to myself but I'd no idea of the damage I was doing in daily life.
I found a pain management course done last year to be helpful. I was referred by my rheumatalogist.
