….have a listen to Radio 4s What’s Up Docs .. it’s about knees but excellent discussion of how’s and why’s exercise works, and what it does and how it affects bone and cartilage.

Thanks. Will definitely have a listen, I striggle quite a bit with my knees but have trying to find ways to build up my strength.

Apparently lying flat and slowly lifting your leg is key!

I listened to the program and was pleased to hear the opinion that joint replacement could be avoided with exercise. However they only talked about the quadriceps. There are physiotherapists on YouTube who emphasise exercises for the glutes as you otherwise can get a muscle imbalance making the knee worse. I think one is called El Paso.
