Has anyone tried hypnotherapy and any other therapy for anxiety and do they work. I really don't like taking meds but have to get through somehow. I know its all in the 'thinkg' but how can one get it out? cotonroad

Hi cotonroad,
Get yourself a good book
by Dr Claire Weekes, she also has audio tapes and now a dvd I think.
Therapy; there's some great ones offered by the NHS, if you cant wait, direct your searches towards what is specifically bothering you at the moment.
If you explain your symptoms in detail, people on here might be able to give some advice too.
wish you well

Hi cotonroad
I have been on and off meds for years. Meds are good at acting as props whilst you get stronger but I think you need to combine meds with therapy otherwise your thinking is the same so if you come off meds it's a matter of time before you sink again. The Clare weekes book seems to be recommended on here so maybe give it a try. If not ask your gp as there's some good help available although I think it's a postcode lottery as to how long you have to wait. Take care love eve x
Thank you so much its a great help to have this support.hugs From cotonroad
Sending a big hug right back. Try not to be fearful as fear gathers strength if you let it in. Believe in yourself and how strong you are. You will get well again. Stay strong xx
Such good advice, I had my MU meeting today, which I lead, and it all went fine so hopefully I'm on the mend. The past 6 months and doing my best for my brother-in-law who had dementia treally took its toll and made the anxiety worse. It does gather strength and folk who never suffer this way can't understand exactly what its like. I have the Claire Weekes book. Also, we should remember to be kind to ourselves. Thanks so much cotonroad
