does anyone else just take diazapan for an... - Anxiety Support
does anyone else just take diazapan for anxiety and does it work for you
I did and yes it worked................it doesn't get rid of everything, but does calm you down,
what mg are you taking?
But remember it can only be taken for short periods of time, as it is addictive, very addictive.
It takes about 1hr to fully work and lasts around 4-5 hours.
Its a stop gap, you need to get some therepy, so that you can manage your symptoms, and start living again
Wishing you well

i take 2mg 3 times a day that what the doctor has just put me on have been on them for a while for depression but i hope they help my anxiety
Ah, 5mg is about normal, but the docs spead the 5mg over the day, thats good, it will help. valium is an a drug for anxiety so your on the right one, helps with depression too. But remember it can only be used for a short time, no for ever.
See if you take a 5mg tablet it will only last for 4-5hrs then what do you do.......... so stay with the 3 x 2mg , it should help a little.
Are you getting any therapy help?
no not at the moment can,t seem to face anyone
I know that one
You tried listening to music, there's loads on utube, I find something new everytime I go on there.
If you have facebook, there's a site called " Tao Te Ching " that has some nice life affirming sayings on there, and great photo's too.
wishing you well

Hi Beechcroft - yes, I take diazepam, have for years. It is addictive, but I think some doctors are OTT about it, tend to get out the garlic and silver crucifix if you so much as mention it! However, used sensibly, it does help with anxiety/panic disorder. And - doctors will never admit this - anti-depressants can be addictive too. Perhaps not in the same way, but I've met loads of people who have been on ADs for years, would love to come off them, but can't cope with the side effects. 2mg 3 times a day is a very small dose - I'm "allowed" to take 2mg up to 5 times a day, but rarely do.
As for therapy, there are some good on-line resources if you can't face anyone atm. "Living Life to the Full" is an online CBT course - you can just do it in your own time, on your own computer, you might like to have a look. It's at:-
And there are some brilliant relaxation exercises here, if you can cope with the American accent
Hope this helps, hun, good luck!

I was on valium, xanax mostly and some other named ..zapams for 31 years. I only took them when absolutely necessary, but I didn't get addicted, however I did have to stop as after 29 years the side effects became worse than the panics.
I'm free of them now for over 2 years, and never looked back.
Just some food for thought, regarding the valium
Wishing you well
Hi Baylien - Xanax isn't valium, which is diazepam and one of the mildest of the benzodiazepams. I've been taking a small dose for years, and can't say I've experienced any side effect - except, perhaps, a slight tendency to depression if i do take too many. They're not the miracle cure they were claimed to be 20 years ago, but some doctors (fortunately including mine!) agree they have their place. I'd be climbing the walls sometimes without them!
Cheers

Hi BriarRose,
Yes, they did help me too, and to have some sort of life. Indeed I wouldn't of been able to even go out without it in the early stages, and relapses.
They did help me and although I think it would be best to avoid drug therapy, sometimes we have to do it.
My doctors hated giving me a prescription in the later years
Xanax (alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety and panic disorder. Includes Xanax side effects, interactions and indications.
All the best

Been taking xanax for over 15 years. Wouldn't have made it through life without it. But I feel out of it, low energy, hazy etc. Anyone have this?
Hi sbf & welcome
This is quite an old post , maybe if you feel like it you could post & ask this question , members would get to see it more clearly & hopefully be able to advise you how they feel if they have taken this med
