Hi Newton, exactly what Whywhy says! But just in case it helps anyone Anxiety UK have a pharmacy telephone helpline, I think it's open every Weds (you can check on their website) where they can answer questions about meds interactions etc.

Hi Newton I'm glad whywhy replied to you. I read your post last night then my Internet went down grrr. I'm on mirtazapine and I read about it lots before I took it. It's a good med to be on but I have also read that mixing with escitalopram or sirtraline works well. I would ask why your gp is adding it is it because your wife's body has got used to the mirtazapine or is it for another reason. I'm on 45mg which was split into two doses 15mg in the morning and 30mg at night but I'm now altering to full dose at night if this helps. Hope you get reassurance today love eve x

thanks kaz12345 +eve39. I think it was because my wife was starting to get harmful thoughts for the first time. we are seeing doc at 2-30 today for reassurance tho .

Please let us know how it goes, Jesus, harmful thoughts doesn't sound good, at least she has been open with you about her feelings, I have had thoughts and not shared them for fear of worrying my partner. I wish I could share with her. Xxx wishing you both all the best xxx

just got back from docs with o/h so relieved, worried about her harming thoughts so had a chat before we went in to see him. she said she never would do anything silly just was so desperate to feel better, doc understood her feeling that way that's why they were giving her a short course of sertraline with mirtazapine so we are both feeling a lot calmer now, thank you all for your concerns been a great help xxx

Hi Newton, as Seyi said, glad you went to the Gp and he explained why they were adding in the other medication. I can understand the harmful thoughts but her saying she'd never do anything silly. Think sometimes we feel so bad and just for wish for the pain to go away, and that was her way of expressing it. Hope the medication helps. You sound a great support to each other.

kaz12345.thank you for your reply you are exactly right we have been together for such a long time I wish I was going thru this and not her . but sadly depression and anxiety doesn't have any favourites.xxx
