Anxiety is like an unwelcome visitor it doesnt necessarily announce it is coming and it is certainly not invited....
We shouldnt think that we are abnormal if we suffer with Anxiety.. its a normal reaction which most people have to stressful difficult situations... the really difficult part is where it becomes impossible to control.... when it is extreme and way out of proportion or perspective with that stressful situation and we temporarily loose our ability to rationalise our thoughts and feelings and our anxiety surrounding such a situation. I am 49 over the past 20 years I have realised through my experiences with varying bouts of Depression mostly accompanied by severe anxiety and also panic attacks.... that it is a learning curve and a life journey... with some dedication and hard work it is possible to learn to manage anxiety better it is helpful to understand ourselves and what makes us anxious and to accept it and to challenge our anxiety by challenging our thoughts and feelings - this does take practise!. I have found CBT very helpful for me and I am currently undergoing my second series of Cognitive Behavoural Therapy which has been a long time coming ( I had my 1st over 10 years ago). There are various techniques you can develop to help you to manage your anxiety better as it is personal to each of us but the psychological and physical symptoms are the scary things we do share the racing thoughts we can't control, the fear, the panic, the tension of being unable to relax, the confusion, the debilitation you feel, the lack of motivation and confidence. I have also found it exremely helpful to interact and meet others who also suffer from anxiety and mental health problems ( try your local Mental Health Resources & charities i.e MIND) I have attended Group Therapy worshops with my local MIND just knowing you are not alone often helps along with boosting your self esteem, confidence and assertiveness but this can take a while to get to grips with its taken me many years but it is worth it. SO DONT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF - YOU CAN FIGHT IT AND OVERCOME IT. HANG IN THERE.
