Depression can cause bad breath by not eating or by stomach acidity thro nerves, also depression causes a lack of interest in our appearance, or intervals of changing into clean clothes and personal hygene.........Maybe your wife cares and is trying to shock you into action?????

I wouldn,t suggest you do anything unusual as mental illness causes all sorts of weird thoughts but they will deplete as you get better.

You need to seek help,NOW..... firstly by your doctor who may presrcibe meds or cbt.......and by talking and telling your wife how you feel, and also that you are seeking help.ask her to give you time to recover and try to understand how you feel maybe then will you get some support if she feels you are trying to overcome your depression.......BUT YOU NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE..........

Hi dont be silly im sure nothink is wrong with you. Your wife doesnt sound to great her selfcshe shouldnt be putting you down. Maybe you could tell your wife how much she hurts you and makes you feel crap about your self. Try not beat your self up abd try takk to your wife see if you both should be together

Sammy u may b lookin 2 much in2 this + takin it out of proportion. i know u had a bad time on sertreline as u awnsered my questions wen i was reactin bad 2 it. i had an extreme reaction 2 them + was ready 2 end my life but i do know that i need an antidepressant so am tryin 2 find 1 i can tolerate. i was 2 scared 2 try another ssri even though i hav previously did really well on citolopam. ive jst started lst nite a new 1(trazadone) which is a diffetent type(an old fashioned seditive 1) but we do need 2 b on 1 wen r illness is so bad.i know u will b terified after wot happened 2 u lst time but u sound like u do need some sort of medication + i promise u its unlikly 2 react that bad again. they will b an anti depressant r u. mirtazapine is a new type of antidepressant wiv a sedative in, ive heard really good things about this 1 + especialy frm people who had a bad reaction 2 sertreline then went on these + did brilliantly. plse get som hlp 4 this + u might also need counciling. plse seek hlp. Go bck 2 ur GP or u can slf refer 2 ur local mental hlth team. kindest regards leeanne:-)

I tried prozac many years ago when I first started with depression due to the break down of my marriage which was abusive... I have later tried and are still on mirtazapine and i feel it saved my life.... I couldnt eat or sleep and was very very low.... good luck I hope life is better soon!! xx

Hi all, Thanks for the responses.I have been put on mirtazapine 15mgs due to be increased to 30 mgs tomorrow and as leanne has mentioned I am sleeping a lot better.I have had a comprehensive assessment by a psychiatrist and psychologist and they are referring me to the local community Mental health team to access ongoing psychology input. Its just that my wife has the faintest of knowledge into mental health issues and i feel that post my diagnosis our relationship has had the greatest impact.Being young and being sexually active, I do not get any sort of support from her .Since i have been put on mirtazapine,my appetite has increased and I have been eating regularly and eating healthily but the above issues persist. I am waiting to hear regarding counselling sessions and the good thing in the midst of all this is I am starting phased return to work on Monday working only pm's due to the drowsiness caused by the meds.Certainly mirtazapine has lesser side effects compared to the Sertraline(which did not work for me) and trying to look towards the brighter side …..Keep your comments flowing!!!
