Hi there u can do a few things 2 start feelin better u could try cbt course that really helped me out and doin relaxation techs can help out alot 2 but do try and do the cbt course and also if ur ok outta work 4 awhile dont worry bout it ur the main concern sort urself out first!!

Hi. loulou66. Lack of confidence is a common fact in Anxiety. I am not saying you have Anxiety but if you lack confidence it could be that you are very worried. Of course you are, who wouldn't be with the job situation as it is. You ask about feeling better about yourself. I wonder what causes you to ask this question? Being out of work does not mean you are a failure by any means. Over two million people cannot all be failures. It is not your fault times are hard. The CBT course can help. Good luck. Let us know how you get on. jonathan.

hi loulou, you will know deep down insisde when you are ready to find a job, left my job few months after my anxiety started, that was good for me because it was one of the worst job i have ever had and people were horrible. stayed at home which relaxed me a bit but then after few months my anxiety got worse and to be honest i made it worst, cz i stayed at home starring atthe ceiling thinking baout my anxiety every second of the day, after all the researched ive done and things i tried, i was sure anxiety will not go away like magic i need to work on it. i started some light exercise/change of diet/vitamins, still every day i learn more things about anxiety. after that i decided it is time now to find a job, financially it was bad as i didn't even bother claiming JSA (fear of being judged) trying to find a job was very stressfull to be honest, but i do pray a lot and it did help thx God and got a job back in March and they are lovely people and joy to work with. my anxiety still with me but better than before.

you will not get a job overnight and you need not to stress, you will suddenly find strengh when you will be called for an interview, from where i don't know but believe me you will. you are strong and you can do it, believe in yourself.

keep us updated xx

LouLou66.. the worse thing to do is stay in bed all day and not get up or dressed. That what has happened to me two years ago. Now, I am feeling much better about myself and I get up each day and I find something to do..like volunteering..updating my skills..talking to friends and family, taking the dog out for a walk (if you have one), attend endless doctors appointments, keeping up with my medication, applying for jobs..the list is endless.. However, your health comes first and I hope you feel better too. CBT also helps, but the best one I found was Beating the Blues course that can be done online through your CPN. LizM40.

Getting back into work when you've been out for a while can be really tough. I would say make sure you have some good psychological support whether a CBT therapist or counsellor (you get them through your GP). Have you tried building it up slowly, so volunteer for one or two days a week to get you into a routine and to build your confidence and self esteem. I don't know what you're like with self help stuff but something like mindfulness can be really helpful in coping with anxiety when you're trying to push yourself to do new things. Good luck with it all.
