Hi,I've taken mirtazepine for a while. Everybody is different but I would expect it to have quite a sedative effect. When i first started taking it i got v sleepy v quickly. Therefore take it at night before you go to bed. If you have triuble sleeping it should help, though you may get some strange dreams aswell.

Hi I ve taken Mirrazipane for two months.Usually doesn't t have many side effect for people.but for me didn t work.it made me feel very irritable, arguments with every single member of my family and I was eating all the time.my doc said it s the first time that a patient didn t agree with mirtazipane.since I came off I m much better and myself again.i m on cipralex now.

Did not help me either.

Hello, I was on mirtazapine for about 6 months. It did what it was supposed to do initially. As train80 says it is very sedating for most people. I found I had to quite literaly get into bed before I took it because it is soluble and very fast acting as a sedative. I didn't care about side effects when I started it because I was desparate. It did work for anxiety which was wonderful but the effect wore off after a few months. We are all different so that might not be how it is for you.

I also gained a stone. It's not as if somebody waved a magic wand and I got fat. I ate myself fat as a result of the food cravings it caused. A friend of mine didn't put on weight because he exercised a lot to make up for the extra food he was eating. So again it depends on how you deal with it.

I hope this is helpful. You can always PM me about most a-d's and anti anxiety drug as I've been round most of the shop!

I have to say this - I wouldn't recommend ever taking venlafaxine as it is so difficult to come off when it stops working. I'm not new to withdrawing from things, but this was something else.

hello, i've only just joined but saw your post.... I took metazapine a few years back although it seemed helpful to me i was completely zonked as soon as i took it. I would take it at night and i felt the side affects very quickly I could not move basically and had to sleep right away. This was not good for me looking after two children under 3 at the time. I had my gp change it after a while for that reason and few others. Good Luck to you

p.s one good thing i will say is that i did sleep very well, whereas on current and past medication I have had immense trouble with sleeping waking all the time night terrors etc :/

Thanks for all comments,i do find it has helped me sleep, after a period of not sleeping, waking in a wild panic at 2-3 am and pacing the floor its a godsend to get a fullnights sleep, hopefully the side effects are less then i experienced with citalopram. Will watch for the weightgain but did lose a stone whilst in acute anxiety state so it may balance out.Still got a way to go.
