Hi

Has anyone been on a longish cruise ? I have 4 weeks to go and my anxiety is rising . I have done one in the past but was at quite a good place anxiety wise . This latest episode started a few weeks ago and now I feel panicky at the thought . I don’t think I’m afraid of the cruise having done it before last year but more afraid of feeling like this and being a long way from home and not being able to cope .

how long is the cruise and are you with family and friends? Fear is horrible and I feel for you. Would it help to try and think of a nice and relaxing thing to de each day and then take a day at a time. Thinking of the whole length in one go can be negative.

Just my husband I think it’s possibly the lack of control and being so far away from home.

Try and think of something positive to do every day. The idea of waving goodbye to anxiety as you leave the port is a really good one.

while I’ve never cruised for that length of time I can tell you I was anxious before mine. It turned out to be one of my best weeks. I felt happy, relaxed and great. Think about the fact that you are traveling WITH a medical facility. Get important fresh air and sunshine. Keep busy and really savor in being in new places. You will have a wonderful trip. You will!

try to look at it differently. When the ship leaves, think of waving goodbye to your anxieties and embarking on a few weeks of change and peace. No cleaning or cooking. Think of it as therapy instead.

Now that’s a really good idea ! Anxiety is always thinking negatively. I suppose
