PAIN after Panic Attack

I’ve recently started to have panic attacks again (I suffer tremendously with health anxiety and my current symptom of shortness of breath is causing my mind to go wild!)

After a really intense panic attack this evening I have been left in so much physical pain, I can’t describe it, EVERY muscle hurts, I’m lying here in bed trying to go to sleep and I’m physically so so tender!

This is new to me and I want to know if it’s normal or whether it’s just something else I need to worry about… yay…

I to suffer with extreme health anxiety, among other different anxiety issues I deal with.When I struggle with anxiety my body would have these tight muscle spasms kinda hard to explain but I feel my body tensing up like crazy my chest gets all tight I feel shortness of breath, I feel this weird tingling sensation like tremors through my body and then I convince myself (unintentionally of course) that somethings wrong with me, I'm developing a sickness but in really its me having a very bad panic attack, then being very hyper focused on my body sensations which then makes the sensations stronger because I'm overthinking about it and I'm hyper focus now to the max on it. I hope I can help even a little to give my experience when panicking. I create these physical symptoms in my own body with a panic attack. And yes I've been to the doctors several times for this and they exam me and do tests and they say I'm fine. Now if you think something is off with you, try not to panic and don't focus on the issues just make a doctor's appointment for a checkup just to be sure and to have peace of mind. Those tingly sensations are a completely normal part of fight or flight. It comes from breathing shallow. That’s my scariest anxiety trigger. The minute I feel it I’m sure this time in definitely having a stroke. I never do though. Try breathing your inhale whenever it comes but let your exhale be long and slow. Eventually you’ll activate your parasympathetic nervous system and calm down and with that the symptoms will pass.

Yeah i try to have slow breathes, but my mind is everywhere when I get in a panic and I tend to just do quick breathing exercises which is not correct and my anxiety gets out of control. I'm gonna try better next time. I wish there will never be a next time when it comes to panic attacks. Thank you for the support! I hope your doing well today!

That is possible my friend. I went from having rolling panic attacks all day everyday, couldn’t leave the house to now, I have just a few a month. It’s a matter of accepting the feelings you feel and knowing they aren’t dangerous. When they come they come, it’s the fear of them that makes it so horrible. I always struggled with the patterned breathing. I couldn’t do it when I was panicking. But someone told me don’t try to control in the inhale, just slow down the exhale and prolong it at least 8 seconds. Organically you will slow down.

Your right I know, thank you for your understanding and taking the time to reply. I will work on the breath exercises during a panic attack but I hope I don't have one anytime soon or never again would be nice. Thank you!

same thing happens to me after intense anxiety. It’s basically a work out for your muscles so it makes total sense to be sore after. I also think those of us with health anxiety are extra sensitive to what’s going on in our body. As for the shortness of breath, I also experience that. It’s called air hunger. It happens because the oxygen/carbon dioxide balance gets disturbed. If you’d use a pulse-ox your oxygen levels would be fine but getting that “good breath” feels like magic and the rest feel like such a longing. A yawn or eating something can give temporary relief but to get rid of it you have to stop trying to get the good breath and causing your diaphragm to seize up. Once everything relaxes it will go away. I get it off and on and I hate it so much but it will pass.
