Hi Tobyjugs3, Morning Anxiety is very common with most people. Upon awakening

your Cortisol and Adrenaline level are high, preparing you for the day. When anxious,

we interpret that as fear and once we do, the cycle has begun. Fear begets fear.

When we are sleeping at night, our subconscious mind is replaying the events of the day,

both good and bad. Is it any wonder that when we wake up, that is the first thought on

our mind? Staying in bed only allows the fear to grow.

Controlling this vicious cycle must come from an acceptance that these feelings are not

harmful. I also believe in Meditation/Breathing that can help settle down our over sensitized

nervous system both before bed and upon awakening.

Before bed, listening to a calming meditation can allow you to fall asleep and go into a

deep REM rest. During that time, the subconscious mind is absorbing every word said on

that tape. Reprogramming your mind to a more positive approach with life.

Upon awakening, listening to Meditation and doing Breathing exercises can accomplish

the same thing by quieting the mind and body as it prepares for the day.

None of this is an overnight success. But it can and does pay off. I'm glad you are here

as we learn from others on this caring site. Take what can help you since we have nothing

to lose but the annoyance and fear of our anxiety. :) xx

Thankyou for replying agora1, I have tried some breathing exercises, but I don't think my busy mind would let me meditate. One of my main reasons for my anxiety is is an upcoming biopsy that I have to have, I am terrified of having this done and keep thinking the worst will happen. Could this be causing this severe anxiety.

Yes, that could be what's causing your anxiety. You may be fearful of the results, but whether you worry or not, the outcome of the test will be the same.

So, just a suggestion-you could write down what you are currently feeling so you can see it in perspective and also write positive ways you can help yourself in case you still feel afraid if an unwanted outcome occurs.

I hope you find peace with this and I hope everything turns out good. Good luck!

Hi, I have had this for years, sometimes mild and at other times intense. The wave of nausea/anxiety is horrid, and the hot flush feeling is especially upsetting. Best way I can find to alleviate it is slow, deep breathing for a few minutes, then get up… it will dissipate and although horrible will not do you any physical harm. Take care

Thanks for your reply, it's the hot flush when I wake up and the awful feelings throughout the day that I can't seem to shake off. I have an upcoming bladder biopsy which is making me feel the worst will happen as I'm terrified of having it done. I'm suffering from depression as well which doesn't help. I've tried some breathing exercises but I can't seem to switch my mind off.
