Hi Anaensan, Welcome to a great community.
Amitriptyline is an older but proven drug in helping patients with pain control etc
I was prescribed it at one time for Fibromyalgia. Wasn't on it long, can't remember why.
Unfortunately, there isn't one drug that fits all. It's basically a trial and error experience
in finding the right drug, the right dosage with the least amount of side effects.
Don't give up, contact your prescribing physician and let him/her make the decision
in what to do next. Afterall, they know your health history. Good luck in finding what
works best for you and you alone xx
Could you be still having withdrawal from duloxotine, i would check withdrawal symptoms list because i know they are ugly even after short usage. I prefer the older tricyclic drugs like amitriptyline or clomipramine etc.. In my opinion they are much better than these modern drugs, once you get passed the side effects. I was on clomipramine for 15 years it was brilliant, until it stopped working for me & my body wouldnt accept a higher dose. Now i am on venlafaxine, similar to duloxotine and i hate it but i cant seem to take anything else. Venlafaxine has horredous side effects for me even though i have been on it 2 years. Hoping therapy is the key to freedom from them. I would check with your Dr and give Amitripyline a chance, they can take upto 5 weeks to work if he thinks it is best. Hope this helps.
