My dad died, now I'm back to square one

My dad died a week ago from a heart attack. Since then I became very anxious, afraid to go to the toilet at night, afraid me too will suffer a heart attack. I know my physical symptoms are due to anxiety, but my anxiety makes me doubt this. My husband and I are going overseas in March and leaving our 3 kids with my mom. Now I have anxiety about the trip. I am afraid that we can get in an accident or what ever and leave our kids.. I am currently taking L-theanine plus other natural supplements. Any recommendations or suggestions on how to manage my anxiety please.

I must add, my dad was relatively young and no previous heart problems and very active. So this makes my anxiety worse

The same thing happened to my dad 5 years ago. And it had the same effect on me. My anxiety went through the roof. I don’t have a foolproof method for dealing with it, especially since I’ve been dealing with actual health issues recently. So I think it might help if you can get a checkup before you go. Bloodwork and possibly an EKG. If you don’t have high cholesterol or blood pressure or diabetes then your risk for heart disease is lower. I’m so sorry for your loss. I still remember exactly how it felt, like it happened yesterday 💖

I too worry about heart attacks after sudden death of friends. Get yourself an Apple Watch or something similar that detects if you’re having Heart problems. There are also apps on your phone that can help detect heart issues.

For me it’s reassuring

I just want to say, that I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't know what your trip is for, but if it's for a good thing, try to focus on the positive aspects of it. You can also talk to your husband for a distraction or for support if he is able to help you w/ your anxiety.

Best wishes to you. xx

Thank you. Yes, it is a planned holiday for two weeks. I am bit better now, I try to practice mindfulness and keep myself from having an anxiety attack.
