Has anyone experienced post op dizziness? I had emergency surgery 6 months ago and 10 days stay on ITU. Developed dizziness 8 weeks ago which has got worse. Also increasingly more exhausted.GP says I have PTSD following op. Wants to start me on Sertraline but I am concerned this will increase dizziness. Anyone got any experience or thoughts?

I was on sertraline for a number of years and had no issues with dizziness. If you do have ptsd you might still be experiencing the affects of the trauma and even re-experiencing them. You might find a trauma therapist to help you deal with and heal the affects of your trauma. Mine used emdr therapy which was very helpful.

Hi DesignGuyThanks for your reply. Will look up EDMR therapy. May I ask what dose of Sertraline you were on? Did you experience any side effects at all? Most importantly - did they help you? Thanks.

I was on 200mg for a number of years and the only side affect I experienced was mildly sexual, delayed climax, which is pretty common.

Sertraline unfortunately did not help me and I tried a number of other meds without success. I wound up doing a psychopharmacological test that used my dna to determine which meds were best suited for me genetically. I started on one it recommended (Pristiq) which was a different class of meds and it has worked well for me. My test was from Genesight and was paid for by my insurance. I live in the States and am not sure where else it's available although there are probably similar tests available. But keep in mind that we all react differently to meds and most of them take 2 - 6 weeks to take affect and make a difference.

I also found that meds alone did not eliminate my anxiety issues, for that I had to learn how to constructively deal with it and found the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos very helpful.
