hi all my names genna I'm 33 from the uk and I suffer with aniexty really bad. I have this spaced out locked in feeling its completely draining me, I've had it a few years on and off and doctors look at me like I'm potty, I've had blood test done all fine and for years I've never been able to find a diagnosis, this time though the closest thing I can find to it is derealisation, some symptoms fit like the feeling drunk/ high/ spaced out and fuzzy headed. when it clears its almost like I feel it clearing like the pressure from my head lifts. doctors have put me on fluoxtine today so hopefully I see improvement soon because It 24/7 feeling atm and it'd horrible. even though I've had it in the past and it passes I never know how long it's going to last and I did a bag thing read Google and some on there say they were never cured so I sit and panic now that what if this time it permanent 😭 I couldn't live like this forever. any advice or any success stories would be appreciated xx

Hi there, I have suffered anxiety for 27 years but thankfully not all the time. The anti depressents are good ones the GP has put you on and they can take up to 6 weeks to work. Once they start working it’s like a black cloud lifting and you will feel good again. Worst thing is staying in the house ruminating when anxious. Try and get out as much as you can with friends, explain to them about your anxiety but don’t go on about it. I don’t keep it a secret and eventually the cloud will pass. I have tried every holistic therapy and none have worked. Everyone is different but having good friends to support you is a big help. Hope you feel better soon xx
Hi! I just wanted to tell you not to give up! Anxiety is overwhelming and uncomfortable but you can learn skills that will help you to calm yourself. You can’t make anxiety disappear, but you can learn your anxiety-what triggers it, what helps soothe you, ways to distract yourself while affirming you are safe. What works for some may not work for you so try many things and see what helps you. Also remember you have made it through every panic attack so far and you are strong enough to do so again.
Hi woozyhead123 and Welcome! It's hard living with a woozyhead. I should know because I suffered with that
sensation for years.
It wasn't until I started using other methods besides medication did I feel I was
going to beat this feeling.
Learning proper posture, staying hydrated was the first step.
The most important second step was eliminating the trigger points at the base
of my skull, my neck and my upper shoulders. (starting with bringing my shoulders
down away from my ears)
I used accupuncture, biofeedback, self hypnosis and relaxation meditation.
These tools put me on the right path to success.
But I wanted more relief. Physical therapy was prescribed by my doctor.
The physical therapist used acupressure. Cupping her fingers and cradling
the back lower portion of my head, released trapped lymphatic fluid. I could
actually hear the crackling and feel the release of pressure inside my head.
She worked on the trigger points in my upper shoulders causing this spasm
in the muscles. She worked on my ears, gently pulling up on them and once
again I felt the release of fluids in my head.
I can only relay what worked for me. This was done through the Rheumatologist
who deals with muscles, soft tissue and ligaments.. It's amazing in what is out
there but many of us (including myself) have no knowledge of it except to pop a
pill for everything. That is not always in our best interest.
I'm glad you are here with us. I don't want you to get overwhelmed by all I told you.
But I do want you to believe that you too, will find what works best for you and go
on living a full life. My best to you xx
Hi, Sorry to hear you are feeling this way. I had exactly the same feelings a few years ago an my GP prescribed Sertraline which I still take now. It is not a cure but it helps ease the symptoms. What you have been prescribed is similar, so seee how it goes. It will take a while to settle in but be patient, it will hopefully be worth it. It does sound like derealisation caused by anxiety.Take care
Hi You have described how I've been feeling for weeks, it's really getting me down now.
It was back in January I had a suspected mini stroke but that turned out to be false.
What was diagnosed was High blood pressure. I was tried on 3 types of BP medication because I thought I was getting brain fog side effects.
Luckily lifestyle changes including diet and more exercise got me off the medication but still I continue every day with the spaced out drunk feeling.
I'm off work at the moment because I drive hgv s.
Someone tell me this is something that will soon pass, can't take much more.
Thanks for any replies
