Effexor? Thoughts?

My neurologist has mentioned taking Effexor to possible help with my migraines. I deal with GAD and the chronic migraines are getting unbearable. In the past I have been on lexapro and Prozac didn’t really notice a drastic change. I wish my body could work itself out with the migraine and anxiety but maybe my body needs a little nudge. Has anyone had a positive experience with Effexor?

My wife went through several (Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Pristiq, and a couple I can't remember) before trying Effexor. She says it's the first one that keeps her even. Really no noticeable side effects besides it makes her a little tired. I hope it helps you like it helps my wife.

Hi, I have been on effexor for over 12 years and has kept me on a more even keel than anything else i have taken before, i also gave up Caffeinated drinks and any Sodas that contain Aspartamine, not that i was much of a fizzy Soda drinker so that has not been difficult. I did suffer Terrible Headaches when cutting out Caffeine , which i expected, after a few days no more headaches. I would also try to rule out certain foods if you have not already done so that can cause Migraine ie Cheese, I thankfully do not have Migraine , but i will say i do not have really bad Headaches as i used to through being so tense most of time. Medication is not the full answer but can help along with other changes you can also make, worth a try when all else has failed. Good Luck x

I went on this drug for exactly the same reason, and sorry - but I regret it to this day. It didn't work and the withdrawal was horrific. If possible, ask your Neurologist if there is a possibility of botox injections for your migraines. These really work for me and I'm a severe migraineur, without messing with your mind. Good luck!

Hi I read your post on the website regarding different depression medications, and it brought back some of the old issues with meds that I have taken over the past 25 years. What kind of medication are you looking for and what conditions is it to treat?

With regards to migraines I have no experience, but for depression and anxiety issues, that I may be able to give you a bit of advice.

Please let me know what sort of help you are looking for.

Take care x
