My anxiety is off the scale again, I’m constantly lightheaded/off balance/faint, full of adrenaline, and have a racing heart. The most troublesome symptom for me at the moment is the lightheaded faint feeling. It’s there 24/7. I rung my doctor today as I can’t suffer like this anymore. She’s upped my propranolol and also prescribed me fluoxetine. I just wondered if anyone else has felt like me and been prescribed this for anxiety and if it has had a positive affect, thank you in advance x

Hi Minnie, I'm sorry to hear you are in a little relapse but I'm not surprised with all that is going on in the world. I have not been on either medication in the past however each one
of us responds differently so follow your doctor's instructions. Besides being on meds, are
you in therapy.? Talking about our fears can get to the root of the problem.
You know that I also believe in using other modalities to calm and lower the adrenaline
levels. Are you doing any Meditation and Breathing Exercises right now?
I can't stress enough how important it is to have these tools with you which will enhance
the meds. The lightheaded feeling, off balance, racing heart, high levels of adrenaline are all things I had as well. When filled with fear, we mouth breathe. We tend to hyperventilate which just exacerbates the symptoms. We then start to fear the fear and it
goes into a cycle that needs to be broken.
I know you know all these things but sometimes we need a refresher course because when
Anxiety hits hard, everything goes out the window. You are going to be okay. x
Slow down your breathing. Find that quiet spot. Sit comfortably, pull your shoulders down away from your ears and just breathe nice and slow. Make sure you are well hydrated as that helps with the off balance, dizzy headed feeling.
You've got this Minnie. Take my hand, we'll walk the walk together once more. xx
Oh agora my favourite person.☺️ I had a tear in my eye reading this.
Thank you for your lovely message.
To be honest the symptoms never really went away they just were a little more manageable. But now it’s extremely unmanageable everyday.
I’ve just finished another course of CBT therapy but it doesn’t seem to have done much. I feel like I’m again being totally controlled by the symptoms 24/7 and have made it almost a habit if that makes any sense, because it’s all I think about!
I have done a little meditation, I really must keep this up. I just fear I’m not in a relaxed enough state to do it.
I’m currently reading Claire weekes again and some other good books that I have. I feel like I haven’t felt normal in 8 years and I’m so exhausted with it all.
Thank you so much for always being there for me. It means the world xxxxx
Hi I've been on fluoxetine for years and it has really helped me with depression. I have had a meltdown recently and the doctor first upped it and then gave me the propanalol which he said would help more with the actual physical anxiety symptoms rather than the depression and so help with the cyclic worrying causing symptoms.
I found that the flooxetine took a couple of weeks to stabilise when I initially went on it years ago and also when it was increased this time ..just to warn you!!! But everyone reacts differently.
The combination appears to be working well now for me.
Hi Minnie. I have suffered with bad anxiety for almost 2 years now and have experienced every symptom you have described, constantly! I was put on propranolol but didn’t feel they helped enough. I then was prescribed Fluoxetine and they helped me so much! I stopped taking the propranolol and only took the Fluoxetine. For a year they worked wonders for me. Didn’t get rid of the anxiety completely but made it so much more manageable that I was able to live again. I stopped taking them and a few months later the anxiety peaked back. So now I started back my meds and they are helping once more. Much more good days than bad now! I know the thought of medication is scary. I put it off and suffered for so long. But the relief you get from just one tablet a day is just much better than suffering the way we do! I also read the book DARE. It gives you a whole new insight on how to look/react to your anxiety and that helped also. I hope you are well and get some relief soon. Take care x
Omg really! I’ve just got my fluoxetine, I’m going to start them today. Thank you so much for your message! I’m also definitely going to have a look at DARE! I’ve heard of it but never read it. So happy you are feeling better beauty. I know how much you were suffering x
