Hi there,

I was on a low dose and I found I felt sickly after an hour or so, then I made sure I had something to eat and not half as bad. I am not very good at taking meds either.

Hi lynstone60 I am on sertraline! I've been on it for approx 3 years now. For me it works well, I dont do all the yawning, dry mouth/throat business that others do to you. I take 150mg which is almost the highest dose. I have tried a couple of others in the past but I didnt get on with them for different reasons.

I wouldn't worry too much, give them a go. Remember though the 4-6 week rule for any effect. Usually the doctor gives you instructions on how to reduce the current med and then start the new med. I would ask your gp for clarification if you havent already. There will always be someone who says they didnt get on with this or that but that's because not one of us are made the same and have unique experiences! I'm happy on Sertraline for now at least. Hope this helps. Good luck and dont think too much about it just get on with your day, life as usual. 👍

I take sertraline 100 mg works for me. Sometimes the anxiety creeps up. This is the best med for me. It will take awhile to get in your system. My anxiety was so bad waiting for it to work but I knew it would so I just hung in there. Good luck.

I work in mental health sign posting and Sertraline is a frequently prescribed medication in the UK. Seems to be on the whole ( in my observations) well tolerated by many patients. In my personal experience not as mood enhancing for depression as Prozac. Not necessarily such a bad thing if anxiety is the primary presenting condition in my view. Did not work for my anxiety but my diagnosis has been changed to complex trauma so maybe not so surprising.

Hi and thank you for your reply ..I'm a little confused in what you mean ,do you mean sertraline is no good for mainly anxiety which is what I have .I am on Prozac which is mainly for my mood .

I’m afraid it did not help me for anxiety but everyone is different. How was Prozac for your anxiety. I mentioned it to my doc after other meds were talked about. Sertraline not bad on side effects. Some are brutal.
