Hi there, I'm 20 years of age and I have been dealing with anxiety for a long time. My body reacts to anxiety by feeling extremely sick and vomiting as well as other symptoms. In recent times I have not been able to live my life normally and have been so consumed with feeling anxious and vomiting and it has become a really unhealthy cycle. My GP prescribed me with Sertraline which I really did not want to take as I am quite anti-meds and prefer the natural medicines. However I started to take it as my parents are desperate for me to be okay and I figured it's worth a shot. I took it for 5 days and was very unwell which is one of the side effects I have heard. I have taken a day break from it and have not been sick for the first time in over a week but I do plan to go back onto it as my psychiatrist explained to me that it should eventually help a lot. Is there anyone reading this who has anxiety and cyclical vomiting syndrome on Sertraline? If so how has it been for you? Looking for any advice on how to stay positive about taking this med and to hear how people have gotten on with it.
Thanks and I would really appreciate any feedback

Don't worry about taking Sertraline. Everyone gets a side effects in the first two weeks. You just need to speak to your GP and tell him about your vomiting. although vomiting is part of the side effect. Everyone taking Sertraline has their own version of side effect. Like me I just get headaches and lack of sleep, no vomiting, no nausea.
That was the best drug I ever took. 23 years on it and overall felt wonderful. It did however cause stomach upset...terrible heartburn and nausea. Make sure you take it with a full meal. Good luck
My daughter is using it now as well. She is doing amazing. She did say though the first 2 weeks were hard with her tummy. But it settled. I always said it was the first 3 days getting on that drug. Some increase in sweating...and a bit more anxiety until it settled. Biggest thing psychiatrist told me was stick it out if you can
Hi, I'm on week 3 of taking sertraline 50mg and it's working wonders for me. I only get very mild panic attacks now and again. The first 2 weeks I had side effects eg, hot flushes, dizzy, sickness, but it soon passed. I really feel it's helping alot. Once you get passed the side effect stage Its a godsend for me ... Hope this helps xx
I took 200mg per day for years and had no side effects. It did not eliminate my anxiety but helped me function and manage the anxiety, which is quite common.
I have been on this same medication for 6 years now. I would not have recovered from my lifelong illness of Anorexia without it. It will take about 6 weeks to get used to it. The side effects will go away. I too am not one who takes many medications. I was so severe Anorexic I felt like crap anyway. I have recovered after 6 years of treatment. I became ill at 14 and now 56. I checked myself into to treatment 6 years ago. This was my first time too. The biggest issue I had with Sertraline was being drowsy. That is common with all anxiety medications I hear. That diminished shortly too. I continue to take 75mg of this drug daily. I have recovered and want to keep it that way. This medication is wonderful for me. It is designed to help my obsessing over food. It is helpful with my PTSD too. That PTSD is why I became ill at 14. I had repressed all my memories until I was 54. Two years ago my mind begins to heal. Treatment from Anorexia first consists of learning to eat again. I put the weight on. Treatment gave me life. I was dying to Anorexia. Just two years ago the mind was healing. The memories of my childhood rape were restored. Would I go off of Sertraline? NO WAY! IT IS WONDERFUL FOR MY PTSD. I LOVE IT.
