Does anyone get huge burning left temple headaches that can last for hours even days?

I sporadically and unpredictably suffer from these in a massive way and can then effect and make my depression poke its head up to say hello. I need to sleep and sleep in the day at times. Its horrid and debilitating I am signed off work atm. I am unable to function properly even sitting up and walking around makes me fuzzy and dizzy with everything feeling swimmy in my head. I do have ear issues which dont help. I feel nausea at times without being sick, also high ish blood pressure especially diastolic and just extremely rubbish. I am seeing the doctor tomorrow to have a consultation. Any others suffer with similar? I'm just reaching out for some help x

My mother has the same problems youre talking about. It really bothers her, but she's physically okay. She deals with lots of stress which of course doesn't help the physical symptoms. Im glad to hear youre going to see a doctor! I pray that it goes well for you.

Hi Blackdog, I use to experience that during my headache years of tension headaches interrupted by migraines. When I would get the pain and head feeling you are describing I would associate it as a side effect of my migraines. I found too that my diastolic reading

was high which meant that I couldn't completely relax my arteries. Meditation and hydration helped a lot. I also use cold paks to help constrict the engorged vessels in my temple due to having had a severe migraine.

At the time I was under the care of a Neurologist.

I'm glad you are seeing your doctor tomorrow. I wish you well and I wish you answers :) xx

Thanks for your reply agora1, I saw the doctor and I've been diagnosed with migraines. I'm so relieved to finally know. I have had these attacks for years and always put it down to my depression and anxiety. I cant tell you how elated I am. Thanks for your support. Now I just need to get strong and back up again. I will no longer be telling myself I am going crazy. I think the spaced out weird feeling and blurred vision is a sign of stress and the aura. I will start to look after myself better. Take care x

I hate the after effects the feeling of being up and down, hot and cold, jittery and fidgety. My eyes are so heavy they just want to close tight. I'm worn out from the constant pain but dont want to sit and be ill anymore. My head still aches, my left arm still aches and restless.

Until you talk to others you never know what similarities we all have. You are suffering too and I hope you feel better from your recent diagnosis soon. X

Blackdog, I'm glad you finally have a diagnosis even if it's a painful one.

Knowing what you are dealing with can help in reducing your stress over it.

Migraines like tension headaches have their own triggers. For my own migraines, I saw them triggered by monthly hormones, chocolate and dehydration. As with tension headaches, relaxation meditation helps immensely.

YouTube has many videos on Migraine headaches that you might want to watch. Short

videos that can help with pain and after effects.

I wish you well. :) xx

Agora1 I still have headache though not as severe. I am hopeful now I amytriptiline that they may soon be s thing of the past. I had the best nights sleep last night in 3 weeks. My eyes are all over the place and I have looked in better shape. My doctor mentioned if I had ever heard of schizophrenia or bipolar as my head felt like the devil was trying to take it with such pounding headaches and my face changed and my eyes changed and still feels very much like a freak. I wonder if there could be some truth in that as it does happen 1-2 times per year and completely changes me into something else that is not me at all. Thankfully though I have a very supportive and loving family who are taking care of me well and always do. I am just resting up until I feel better and the weight has lifted from me. What did your migraines do to you and how did you feel?

Blackdog, I'm sorry that your headache still continues which really isn't unusual with migraines. I'm not a doctor so I can only go by my own years of experience with daily headaches. Muscular Contraction headaches (tension) interrupted by Migraines.

If your headaches are but 1-2 times a year, it can be a seasonal issue. Usually the Spring and Fall of the year. There are different types of headaches and treatment can be different. An over abundance of pain relievers will cause "rebound" headaches and you are right back to Square 1.

From my high anxiety at the time, I developed trigger points in the base of my skull,

my neck and my shoulders. These triggers were causing my intense referred head pain. My head felt wobbly and dizzy headed and even as if it were filled with fluid.

What helped me was starting Meditation/Relaxation tapes, Biofeedback, Self Hypnosis as well as Physical Therapy treatments 3x a week for 6 weeks.

Through Acupressure and Acupuncture they were able to release the trigger points

causing the headaches to get better over time.

I feel for you with these headaches. They do make you feel different, not quite like yourself. Work closely with your doctor. He knows your medical history and what's

best for you. Know that these headaches will run their course eventually. I support

you through this. Feel better, I care :) xx

You see I have had these horrible attacks for years and always put it down to my mental health being the cause. Now I'm not so sure my mental health was the culprit every time. I am grateful for your time in responding. I never knew how awful migraine's could be until I started researching it all a couple of days ago. Migraine's sound so debilitating. Plus speaking with others like yourself and this site, it has opened up my eyes to perhaps the idea that these attacks are potentially migraine's. I did not know how long the headaches can last. I have been awake properly today all day and now my eyes are worn out. I'm going to try and another sound sleep. Hopefully tomorrow will be even easier. I shall take it slow and take care. My husband wants to be up and running again more quickly but he doesnt really understand how awful this experience is. I am very grateful to have such good support around me. I know some arent so fortunate. Thanks Agora1 good to talk.
