Anxiety Medication & Hair Damage

I have been taking Paxil since April and have noticed a big change in my hair. Since taking the medication, I feel like my hair is always dry and brittle, is breaking and I’m over all losing my hair. I worked for a long time to get my hair healthy and now my hair is getting shorter and is just so unhealthy looking. Has anyone else experienced hair issues when taking Paxil or any other anxiety medication ?

Hello :-)

I have found not with this medication but actually with antibiotics it can make my hair dry and dull , I think there are a few medications that can affect people in this way

I would mention it to your Doctor and unless you don't wan't to change meds see if they can try you on something else

I know we can need these medications but especially we ladies like our hair to be looking nice and if it is causing these problems then that can make you feel low in itself , so I would definitely be speaking to my Doctor about this :-)

Take Care x

I started Prozac on May 23rd and my hair has gone from being beautiful curly moisturized hair to to super dry, brittle, Awful looking mess..

I have been deep conditioning weekly and nothing has helped..

I think it’s the medication

I’ve tried most the antidepressants they don’t work for me. This one is the best so far, gives me a tiny bit of help but not much however I welcome any little help.

How are you doing on the Paxil aside from your hair?
