Has anyone had genetic testing to see what antidepressants is it right for you and is it worth the money I’ve tried so many and nothing agrees with me

That sounds so interesting!

And I’m sure you will find the right one for you eventually.

Yes I had the test done, I was on SSRI’s which came back red alert, do not take. I’m taking Effexor, which is one of the drugs that’s most likely: Remission

I’ve taken if very slow upping my dosage over the pass 8 months.

I recommend the test if other meds have failed.

Yes!!!! If your insurance will cover it or if you have the money, I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I took four or five different meds for depression and they all made me feel like hell. Finally I was offered the dna test (I’m not sure why they don’t bring that up earlier lol 🙃).

It was a lifesaver. It put meds into three categories (never take, take with caution, will most likely work well). And it was spot on for me. Every med I’d tried before was on the “don’t ever take” list lol. So I tried on on the list of ones that should work and it has worked with almost no side effects. It’s truly amazing. And it has lists for a bunch of classes of meds too (even if you weren’t wondering about them) just in case you do end up needing a different class

Did you use a particular company or service for the testing? Did your insurance cover some of the cost?

I used Genesight, it’s the one my doctor recommended. She did everything for me (took the mouth sample, mailed it, got the results).

And insurance covered some but the cost is based off of your income. So the more you make, the less it costs. I make a little over $50,000 a year and have decent insurance and paid $200.
