Hi I used to suffer really bad with panic attacks and anxiety to the point I couldn’t leave my house for three years, I would say I have been better for the past 2 years obviously still the odd bit of anxiety going in to shops and stuff latterly I have been drinking alcohol quite a lot and the other night after drinking I woke up about 5am with a racing heart every night since like 4 nights ago it’s been happening to me about the same time every night I could feel my anxiety getting worse but I’m not sure if it’s a heart problem or a panic attack it’s just so scary

Alcohol can put us to sleep, but it’s a huge disruptor to sleep as the alcohol is metabolized in the body. We can only metabolize approx 1 ounce of alcohol per hour. So even after drinking is over the liver is still processing alcohol for hours after.
I doubt at your age, you have heart issues unless there is family history of heart disease however, any comments or advice we give cannot replace getting an all clear on your health and wellness but your doctor. Never delay seeking the help from your doc if you have concerns. I
In addition to Roxie's great advice, I remember my doctor saying heart problems don't occur to a time clock so it most likely be the nocturnal anxiety complicated by the alcohol. Still worth checking out, just to be sure symptoms are not the start of something else
If you’re worried it’s a heart problem, I’d totally recommend having a doctor check it out.
However, I have problems with a racing heart whenever I drink too. I’m not sure why but it always happens with alcohol for me so that might be it
