Intermittent Derealization Symptoms

After many months of severe anxiety/panic attacks brought on by family/work stress, I finally started experiencing derealization symptoms back in mid November. Needless to say, this is a very hard thing to deal with. After a failed trial of Citalopram, my anxiety is even worse which is putting both my job and marriage in jeopardy.

One thing I’ve noticed with the derealization symptoms is they are highly variable. They can range from non-existent (feeling almost “normal”) to totally incapacitating. Most of the symptoms are closer to the incapacitating end of the spectrum unfortunately.

This variability is often very abrupt. I can be feeling relatively ok one minute and then totally detached 30 seconds later. Its almost like someone is flipping a switch somewhere. This seems inconsistent with what I’ve read on this and other sites, where changes in dp/dr symptoms usually play out over weeks or months.

So my question is this: has anyone else out there experienced “rapid cycling” dp/dr symptoms?

Yes, i have experienced this. It can come and go.

I think I’m feeling the same but not sure exactly what derealization is. What are the physical symptoms you are feeling?
