Transesophogeal echo TEE/pain

Hi. I suffer from severe anxiety. I had a TEE done today to monitor my mitral regurgitation. I’ve never had a sore throat like this and painful swallowing. It’s so painful. Has anyone had this? Needless to say as the night goes on and my pain isn’t better my anxiety is rearing its ugly head. Is the terrible sore throat and painful swallow normal and if so how long will it last? Thank you in advance to anyone who answers.

Hi Tina, I had that done myself some years back. Your throat can be sore

for a day or two after the procedure. Call your doctor if it continues. You

may want to have some cool, bland non irritating foods for a day.

Feel better soon. xx
