Question: is it possible to have multiple panic attacks in a day? Also I get this choking sensation sometimes but I can breathe and swallow just fine. Is that normal for anxiety/panic attacks?

There is no right or wrong, normal or not normal with anxiety.

As long as there is adrenaline, there are the ups and downs of anxiety.

As for that choking sensation, it's all about the muscles in our throat

feeling tight. It does not interfere with our breathing or swallow and is

not harmful. The nice thing about all of this, is that it will eventually

go away. I can't remember the last time I had a panic or anxiety attack.

Doesn't mean I don't feel the butterflies in my stomach from time to time

but they don't scare me and I know how to stop it from escalating.

Feel better but know we are only a message away. I'm glad the videos

helped some. I watch those are others every day mid afternoon to keep

my nervous system in a calm state. You're going to be okay. :) xx

Agora, how are you? You send such great advice to me and others. I wonder a lot about your daughter. How is she? I know how hard it is for you. My mother worried about me for all those years of Anorexia.

Hello Mindfulnessxo. I too had just about this same panic attack today. I ended up i the ER FREAKING out. The numbness and tingling that takes over my body is something my doctor said is normal because your body is in a heightened state. Try going outside if you can idk why but this helps me. Also remind yourself to breathe!!

Yes, they are. severe irrational fear, shortness of breath, insomnia, and I found out,

I have bad OCD without my meds. They tried many things before they, finally seen that I was so bad, I could not function, in the real world. This was not acceptable to me. I went to Urgent care four times and ER, then, finally went to a Doctor. I got lucky, he is a good DR. I would rather remain on Clonazepam the rest of my life, then go through constant panic attacks terrible OCD and Fear so great, I felt it was a monster. He put me back on my Clonazepam, I take two mg just before going to sleep every night, and he raised my Venlafaxine from 75mg to 225mg daily. My Thyroid is out really bad, something about trying to withdraw from clonazepam took a hypothyroid and turned it 360 degrees to hyperthyroid. They tried Valium/Diazepam and it made me totally worse. I was so bad, I was afraid to sleep, for fear of waking in a panic, and I was afraid to eat, due to OCD. I also had to write down the numbers and letters on my pills, then put them in and out of my mouth many times before I could take them. still, need counseling have to be signed up in July, as the waiting list is long. I am an RN, and have to work six more years, I can't work do it with constant panic, and severe OCD. When taking my pills I take them, only as directed. I have improved 90% within two weeks. All but insomnia and occasional numbness. I'm here for you, girl. I know just how your feeling. It's a nightmare. You will get through this. Just need a good Doc and the right meds. FYI. They, tried to put me on Ambien and Baclofen for the stiff muscles and tension headaches due to constant panic, they are both just as addictive as benzodiazepines. SO why not, just stay addicted to one that works, and not abuse it, instead of being addicted to even more drugs that do not work .

Let us know how you're doing Mindful. Panic attacks can't actually hurt you - they just feel AWFUL. I've experienced everything you're describing above - my face is actually tingling right now - but I've survived every bit of it. They are physically harmless.

Oh yes, I, woke one morning in a panic attack, ended up running into the wall. My heart was pounding, I was definitely in the fight or flight, part of panic. I thought I was going to lose my mind, and then die in the worst nightmarish way possible. Then, I noticed the entire left side of my face was numb, as well as my entire tongue, and down my left arm. Numbness is a symptom of anxiety with panic. I was numb for a few days after, and occasionally still have numbness, especially when I am suffering insommnia. What are the Docs doing for you, to help you, with the panic?

I believe you are making the best choice by seeing your therapist and doctor. I have seen the same two for over 6 years now. With their help, I have recently recovered from 40 years of Anorexia. It is a daily process to stay recovered. It is far better than dying with Anorexia. I have never had a panic attack. I have PTSD from abuse. The Zoloft that my doctor put me on 6 years ago works wonders for me. It keeps me from obsessing over food. It works wonders for my PTSD. It is the only medication that I have ever been on for any length of time and great for me. Talking is the best medication invented and it is free. Sharing our issues here in this group has been so wonderful for me. Knowing that we are not alone. When I was going through a year-long horrible divorce. I knew that I was at the beginning of having a nervous breakdown. One day I sat in a chair and cried for 2 hours straight. I was shaking and trembling badly. I was running to pee every few minutes. The nerves were causing me to pee more. I was blowing snot like no other. I had all kind of negative bad thoughts racing inside my brain. My best friend came to my rescue. I went straight to my mental doctor and she helped tremendously. I will be thinking of you. The upcoming appointment will be great for you. I still continue seeing my doctor every 3 months or sooner if needed. Be strong and you will make it.

Sounds like autonomic nervous system dysfunction. I have it and the vagus nerve is the culprit. When mine flares I cant swallow, limbs have gone numb, heart palpitations and I pass out. My heart doctor increased my salt intake and that has really helped with the heart palps. Food also triggers symptoms for me. Look into the vagus nerve and you will be able to understand what is going on with you. Good Luck!
