I’ve never been formally diagnosed with social anxiety but I’m 99% sure I have it. I found a great therapy center but I’m afraid they won’t be willing to help me if I don’t have a formal diagnosis. If I do need one how do I go about doing that? I don’t have a regular doctor anymore but if need be I’m willing to go to a psychiatrist.

Can I get therapy for social anxiety without a formal diagnosis?
Depends on insurance. I'm not sure what type of plan you have.
With my plan I could just call the therapy center and book an appointment.
Some insurance requires a referral from a GP.
If I may? I would suggest searching for a GP anyways. You never know when you are going to need someone. Better to do it in a calm situation versus a crisis.
Good luck
I think it depends on what country you live in and if you live in the U.S. what kind of insurance you have. I would suggest contacting the center and asking them what they require.
You need to get yourself registered with the GP. It's not wise to diagnose yourself with anything considering it could be another diagnosis that's making you have these thoughts? Someone needs to get to know you to some degree and be able to see the changes in your mood before they can decide what's really going on. That's fine because you can start keeping a diary now so you have something to show the doctor when you meet him. It's vital you do this the right way because if something does go wrong or there is a change you haven't got someone to go back to, go and register with the new surgery.
