Update on dizzy spells

Thanks for all your responses on my last post. I wanted to maybe update a little and/or explain myself better.

I know it’s so easy for all of us to chalk these things up to anxiety - but I can honestly say that I’ve not had any recent stressors in my life UNTIL the dizziness and on a boat feeling started. That has been the stressor.

With this feeling, I’m also noticing that I will sleep about 5–8 hours a night but wake up at least once or twice; but then I’ll have nights like last night where I go to bed at 1130, wake up at 215am and then stay up for several hours before passing back out from 655am-1030am. But it seems like I’m waking up a lot during this time. And I’m waking up because I’m wanting to know or see if I’m “better” than I was the day before with the dizzy feeling. Anyone else?

I feel like this is an inner ear or neck issue, although I don’t have any pain or soreness in my neck. I am admittedly looking down at my phone a LOT these days. I’m trying each day to get better with that - but it’s hard when you’re anxious because of something like this LOL.

I always wanted to let everyone know that I have tinnitus in my left ear and have for the past six or seven years now. It’s constant and never goes away. I am used to it, until I notice and/or focus on it.

I know we've already connected on my post, but I wanted to comment on something you said here. There are two things (that I know of) which contribute to self-leveling or anti-vertigo - and you're correct in your assumption that one is inner ear and one is in the neck. I forget exactly what in the neck has this function, but it's essentially like a gimbal with sensors, so similar to a Segway people mover thing. It senses when you're off balance and corrects your position. If you want to rule out inner ear, there's a simple test for it. Lay on your bed (on your back) with your head hanging off one end. Tilt your head 45 degrees to the left and hold it for 30 seconds. Then repeat on the right. If either side makes you feel like you're about to vomit, that's the ear with a problem. It can be resolved - it's something to do with little crystals (sounds weird, I know) out of place. There's a name for the condition but it escapes me now. There's a 4 letter abbreviation. A warning about the test: it's powerful stuff. Have a bucket nearby to throw up in. My girlfriend vomited within 4 seconds of doing it.

BPPV. I don’t ever get nauseous with any of the dizziness. It’s more of an on a boat feeling.

That's the one. Nausea doesn't have to accompany the vertigo for it to be BPPV, does it? I'll have to look it up again. Maybe you're right actually.

Not sure. Like I mentioned in my initial post, mine is more on the side of feeling like I’m swaying or moving when I’m not. I could be taking my dog out to the backyard, stand perfectly still, and feel myself rocking front to back - side to side - and it sucks. People are so quick to say anxiety, and I have no doubt it plays into it. But I can honestly say that I didn’t have anxiety about anything until this, haha.
