Hi Libby12, of course only a doctor can diagnose your symptoms.

I can however tell you of an experience I had at one time in constantly

swallowing air. I was a "several packs a day gum chewer". The more

nervous I felt, the more gum I chewed. Each time we chew on gum, we

swallow large amounts of air with it. (nervous or not) Eating is

another time nervousness plays into swallowing more air than the average person.

Mealtime should be done in a relaxed surrounding and not standing somewhere

gulping both food and drink down.

The C-PAP mask for those with sleep apnea can also produce extra air in the

stomach allowing it to cause belching and flatulence.

Which came first? Anxiety or Aerophagia?? In my case, it was a matter of giving

up gum. Within a week I felt the difference. I also started using relaxation techniques

throughout the day which allowed my stress to lower.

Anxiety can produce many different symptoms but only a doctor can diagnose

the root of it all. I hope you get some answers. Wishing you well xx

I have The Bloating & Belching Problem Too...Been Xrayed, CT Scanned, Had The Tube Run Down My Throat...Did Find Out I Had A Large Navel Hernia Though. [ may need surgery on that ]... But ? Changing Eating Habits Has Helped Allot.... No Straws, Eating With My Mouth Closed, Buying 2 Liter Soft Drinks & Cracking The Seals So They Go Flat [ no fizzes ] Ect.... Actually ? Those Drinks Aren't Too Bad Flat After A Wile You'd Be Surprised.... See A Doc Though & Get Thoroughly Examined.....To Ease Any Fears....

Prayers~*

TriggerPoint, I absolutely agree with you. Even with a medical issue,

changing some of our habits can make a big difference. Wish you well. Keep

us updated should you need surgery at some time. x

Will Do Friend...[ the doctors always take their own sweet time to act on anything unless it'a life threatening and they have too. many really don't care if you suffer in the meantime...sad ]....

Since my anxiety drastically dropped in intensity I've noticed that I'm not NEARLY as bloated as I was before. The change happened within a month I'd say - meaning after the anxiety went from a daily 6-10/10 to a daily 0-2/10 (consistently) it took about a month for my digestive tract and aerophagia things to sort themselves out. The worst part was the bloating produced acute stabbing pains near the heart, which triggered my cardiophobia, which in turn triggered the aerophagia.

Hi o2G2o, I hadn't seen you on for a while. I'm glad to hear that your anxiety is

coming down and how the two issues intertwined with each other. It sounds like

you might have broken that cycle of fear. Take of yourself :) x

Seems consistent with the usual dreaded anxiety. Swallowing air is quite common with anxiety and can make you bloated and as effects your breathing patterns. I get what you describe from time to time and it’s horrible. Hope you get better soon.

Hello! I am 23 y/o diagnosed with anxiety and have this exact same thing, I burp all day every day - sometimes very loud sometimes not so loud. I thought I was the only person!

I get this lots. I think mine is to do with acid reflux which is to do with anxiety.

I’m actually scared, I burp, 50-100 times a day. Sometimes it’s real burps, most times I’m just swallowing air to burp. I can’t stop. I’m not sure if we have the same thing. I want someone to video what they’re burping is like to see if it’s like mine because it’s it’s literally making yourself swallow air to burp than that’s what I have.. I’m so stressed.
