I am a year 1 uni student, and am pretty sure that I am suffering from social anxiety, which hugely influences my life in different aspects. Should I seek for help from a GP, or are there any other methods to deal with it? I struggle to go to school and meet other people. Completely hopeless............

Give me some advice please....
p.s. I have been suffering from social anxiety for a few years............
I talked with a psychotherapist who helped me with my anxiety. She now has a website with free topics you can download. It is Pauline Holmes Phd at graceandsanity.org. Go to the website and select “our web radio page” from the top of the screen. You will then see several topics including the “Fear” series which will help you understand fear and anxiety and help you lessen these. Dr Holmes’ therapy is bible based and it has helped me understand and lessen my anxiety and I know it can also help you too. Take care of yourself, eat healthy, rest, enjoy fresh air and sunshine. God wants you to live a joyful life.
I have been struggling with social anxiety for some time and for a long time I just accepted it and that was that, but a little more than a year ago I decided enough is enough. I decided to start pushing myself into uncomfortable situations, like speaking up in class. I would mentally reward myself every time I did, and it slowly started to get easier, some days are worse than others but I am now able to speak up in class without going completely red in the face and feeling like I can’t breathe.
It’s taken a really long time, and it’s not fool proof, but it’s made a difference for me so it might be worth a try for you.
